Supermarket on St. Marks? — Brooklynian

Supermarket on St. Marks?

A permit has been approved and work (just demolition of the old building at this point) has begun on a supermarket on St. Marks between Franklin and Classon. This is across the street from where I live, so I think it's fantastic. Any thoughts? How long do you think this will take to actually happen?

When we moved in our landlord told us there were a supermarket and coffee shop coming to the block. We didn't believe him - some research found that they've been saying that for a long time - but maybe it's true? That would be super.

  • ohhh thats exciting news! I supermarket that's closer to my house. i hope its better than the current options that we have.
  • Hmm, very interesting. Where on the block are they building? I'm right around the corner so I'll have to check it out some day this week.

Is it wrong to say that I hope it's not directly next to the radiation center? That place always looks like a set for a zombie movie, no matter what time of day it is.
  • I heard there was a plan for a supermarket about a year or so ago. I guess it's finally happening. Seems it'll be in competition with Fisher's on Franklin & Lincoln which will be undergoing renovations soon. I heard they - Fischer - plan to bring in organics too.
