last-minute date place in 'hood?

Subject: last-minute date place in 'hood?

Just got a sitter, looking to get out for a few hours tonight.

Maybe it's the heat, but cannot think of anything than the usual stuff. So, I'm throwing it out there.

What are you suggestions for someplace in the Slope, casual (very), with good food and a decent date atmosphere? Drinks, dinner, whatever. No other parameters.

Help me out, people.

I could not agree more--Canaille is charming and has consistently wonderful food. Try the calamari appetizer...

What is the usual stuff? Usual for your dates might be on 5th Avenue at Blue Ribbon while usual for my dates is on 3rd Avenue at the Dunkin Donuts/Taco Bell/Pizza Hut drive thru.

Wow, you really go all out, don'tcha Raw?
  • Oh come on... There must be something in the hood between the price point of Dunkin Doughnuts and Blue Ribbon.
  • Scalino is ALWAYS great, especially when you can sit outside on a beautiful night.
  • I would recommend Tempo on 5th Avenue. Great food and service.
  • i've always been a fan of mangia - great food and the owner rubin is a cool guy. the prices are pretty reasonable and if you sit outside i'd say it's super casual, maybe a little more formal inside? anyway, i'd recommend that, if you can get there for the happy hour drinks specials then you're set (i'm guessing they still have them although haven't been there since spring) - $4 martinis.
