Is tents and trails still around? That is where I suited up when I went to Nepal. very good deals. It is on Park Place right off of Broadway in the city. Of course, it could be long closed; I haven't hiked much farther than from my couch to the fridge in a long while.

Since I've been at this temp job, I'm right next door to a Daffy's. It's hit or miss on any given day (I believe new stuff comes in on Thursdays) and at this point they're clearing the way for the fall stuff. Should be any day now....

A lot of people swear by the Army/Navy hiking boots. And they're always cheap. There is a shop at 37 W 8th St. in Manhattan. Plus, I have a flyer for 10% off your entire purchase, if you'd like it.

Century 21?

Go to paragon to find a style and size shoe that works and then look for it for less online. Don't skimp on boots or you'll be in too much pain. It's best to lurk in paragon's shoe area for a while to pick which sale person you want to work with. Some know what they are talking about and some are useless and rude.
For gear clothing Lands End is ridiculously cheep compared to every other maker. -
a friend of mine got hiking boots from Famous Footwear for really cheap...

Syms - plus they are pretty cheap at this time of year. -
Zappos. Order today from the comfort of your living room. Have them tomorrow. Great return policy too

They're still alive and well.
I second the person who wrote that you should not skimp on boots. First for the foot pain, second for the safety: these things are going to keep you upright, stable, and support your ankles as you hike. It's worth spending $100-$200 for boots that fit well.
And don't forget about good socks. To me, they can make all the difference between happy feet, and sweaty miserable feet. -

Ooh that's a good choice. They're always having a buy one get one half off sale too. -
if I can get the courage up, I'll go to paragon and find a few types I like, then get them for cheaper online. I mean, I don't want to hurt myself - my folks live in the mountains. and my dad already twisted his knee.
placed an order on land's end for a new fleece and a rain jacket/windbreaker. good prices.
