Ai yi yi! Where to start! I have had a pitbull for ten years, raised and trained it myself. Public display of dog aggression (PDDA) is immediately dealt with by enforcing five minute down stays. My dog is obedience trained and PEOPLE-socialized, she loves everyone and is very gentle with ALL who WANT and ASK to meet her.

My dog is a good canine citizen but I would never dream of allowing her to run off leash ANYWHERE for ANY REASON. I value her too much to risk her running into traffic or getting into a fight with dogs or rabid raccoons or crazy people with poisoned "treats" or whatever. Nor do I care to allow my dog to bother and annoy other people. It's called having consideration for others.

Yes there are a lot of jackasses running around with ill trained aggressive pit bulls, just as there are a lot of arrogant entitled yuppies from Park Slope who let their dogs go off leash in the park whenever and wherever they like.

When I go to the vail it's to look at beautiful birds playing in the water. A dog splashing around in the water scares all the birds away. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that but then again, I am not surprised. :roll:

I hear ya rockhound, I had an English Bull Terrier for 15 years, the sweetest, most loyal animal in the world but another breed with a rep. I would never let her off leash either mostly because of what other people thought might happen. I think the problem with these breeds is their loyalty. They truly reflect their owners mentality or psyche if you will. My dog Penny had such control, I could pick her up by her teeth and swing her around until my fingers got too sore. Miss her.

The problem with the arrogant entitled yuppies from Park Slope has less to do with their off-leash dogs than with their off-leash toddlers! and the strollers! My God! THE STROLLERS!!

my issue is with the mofo's always showing off that they wear shoes, arrogant bitches! take you shoes and shove it is what I say. But i say it in a loving manner, like Imelda Marcos would.
