I highly recommend burt's bees herbal deo. it's a spray on and works a lot better than most of the hippy dippy types of deo. I do layer it with perfume just because your pits emit a lot of heat. a lot of folks compliment me on how I smell, which is pleasant, because I am easily overheated so tom's of maine or some shit isn't gonna work. I tried the weleda spray on and it a) wasn't as cost effective b/c the bottle is much smaller and b) it doesn't have the sage oil in it that helps out the citrus oils in the deo. this is also why I tend to like scents that compliment such a scent.
sometimes, after a long day out, I actually grab limes & lemons from a bar and rub the fruit and kinda twist the skin to get the oil out and rub that in, too. I'm vaguely hippy dippy but mostly because the aluminum stuff makes me itch like mad, as does anything that I can't just spray on (v. anything you have to rub on). -
I like the Kiss My Face fragrance free deodorant. I started using it after a similar experience (itching, rash) with Dove. It's a stick rather than spray.

what about deodorants that don't have antiperspirant...any that folks like?
After using most for a while, I end up with swollen knots from them. Last time a I looked (a couple of years ago, and not in NYC) the only deodorant without antiperspirant I could find had a strong manly smell. -
where do you find some of these products, like the solar energy or MB lotion?

burt's bees doesn't have antiperspirant. I used to get bumps and rashes from stick plain-deo.

(and for the record, I have no money invested in burt's bees. just love their product.) -
Tend Skin is the shit. Google it. It's like the windex of skin problems (meaning it can fix everything)

Can you find it locally (I notice Sephora has it, but wonder if you can find it in CVS, etc) -
alaFN - i get a lot of perfumes on ebay for a LOT cheaper than retail. most recently, masaki matsushima's mintea for $18 ($76 reg) and clean for $26 (also $76). try that route if there is a perfume you absolutely love. i haven't had any probs yet.

nice. hrm. I'm going to target tomorrow so I may check out their supply, esp in the boots etc section, but otherwise, I will try ebay tomorrow afternoon/evening. thanks for the tip!

I've never purchased it in-store, I always go the amazon route. if you have highly sensitive skin it's not the product for you as one of the main ingredients is alcohol, but its been a godsend for me and my bikini bumps! -

To all my curly haired sisters -
I am now totally in love with the Bumble and Bumble hair tonic and curl conscious cream. I have been using these two products for the past month and my curly hair has been so tamed, less frizzy and much softer. -
Cool. I've never gotten around to trying Bumble and Bumble. I'll check those out.
-
I used to use bumble products but have been using khiels styling cream lately. and also the deva-chan spray stuff (the one that 'revives' your hair) since you're not supposed to wash curly hair on a daily basis. or use a comb. my hair fits my lazy ass perfectly.

I am totally fine with that as long as it continues to get rid of my horrible painful italian-hair induced bikini bumps. I would use gasoline if it worked. This is the first summer I can wear a bathingsuit without sitting/walking in some strategic manner.
OH and Devacurl kicks ass for curly hair. I used the system for 2 years before my boyfriend threw a fit and made me wash my hair with normal shampoo (not because it looked/smelled bad, but because he was petitioning against the idea for some reason. It wasn't worth the bickering.)
I still use their One conditioner and its the only thing that saves my fried wavy hair. -

I know. I love that about curly hair too.
I do condition it every day, though, even if I don't use shampoo. Styling cream is just a little too heavy for me. -
Being the product whore that I am, and also receiving some good news today, I went to Sephora and bought both Fiberwig and TendSkin.
My name is Flexi and I am a cosmetic-holic -

OOO how much was it at sephora? I usually amazon it for like $20 a bottle but if its cheaper I'll buy it there and save on shipping! Also, which sephora did you go to? -
$20 for the smaller bottle. I was on lower Broadway/Financial District.....that's not one of their bigger stores, but they had it

A million years ago, I used B&B styling cream for my straight-as-a-board hair to give it some body. But I found that it consistently made my hair feel very sticky, and that turned me off to creams ever since. Is Kiehl's better? Maybe this isn't a problem that you have with curly hair. -
Flexi- put on some of that mascara and report back- like now! I ned to know if that shit is the shit! Inquiring minds GOTTA know... :bounce:

first I need a nappy nap.
I will try some on later. BP is coming to BBQ, so maybe I'll let her be the judge. -

oh i see, having a bbq and not inviting your "friends"....

Just busting your proverbial balls, Flex! -
I'm not ready to invite "invisapeeps" over. it's bad enough that I talk to myself :-)
but we'll be thinking about cha....maybe we'll even drink a toasty toast ;-) -
I am wearing Fiberwig. It looks pretty good, but I'm not sure $22 worth of good. BP didn't notice a difference (but she only own THREE eye shadows!). I'll have to keep trying and get back to you
-
They say you have to layer it, I think.
-
Fiberwig definitely not worth $22. Really not digging this.
Anybody try Posie Tint yet? -
Well, despite the fact that i am cheap in most other aspects of my life...i only wear Chanel foundation. it is $55 but the only one i have ever found that matched my skin tone and complements it, lets soem of my freckles show through by still evens out my skin tone, doesn't itch or make me feel greasy...i could do a commercial for Chanel, i love it so much.
i use Lorac plum blush.
Cargo Reverse Lipliner is the greatest thing to prevent lipstick bleed, which i have a major problem with.
what i could REALLY use, ladies, is recommendations for a lipstick that will not dry out my insanely dry lips. i usually cannot wear lipstick more than one day a week because it sets my lips peeling, and i've tried a ton of brands. forget anything labeled long-wearing.
