Brookbit: South Slope 10AM Mugging

By rsguskind on Crime

There was a mugging yesterday in the South Slope on 15th Street above Seventh Avenue. An elderly man riding a bike was robbed of a chain by some people who got out of a car, pushed him over and robbed him. The incident took place around 10AM.–GL Inbox

  • there's been a few of this muggings-by-car in the area, huh?

10am?? geez, these criminals are mighty enterprising.
  • An elderly man, riding a bike, wearing a chain.

(Don't mind me -- too early, not enough caffeine)
  • I don't know if this is related but apparently there were 2 bodies found this morning. One in P Park (the other, not sure where). Haven't heard anything else about it. anyone hear anything?
  • Yeah.. this sounds like a giant pile of steaming bullshit.

If you can't post pictures of an old and tattered, confused chainless man then it didn't happen.

As a matter of fact, if it doesn't get posted somewhere on this blog with multiple pictures and eyewitness accounts then it didn't happen.

Earthquake, LA, yesterday??? My ass... didn't fucking happen.
  • not sure but if this is your attempt at humor DR, then it ain't funny
  • Posted info about the dead body in a new thread.
  • What was the man thinking stepping outside of his home at 10 AM? Who leaves their home in broad day light?

I've heard of people cutting the chain and taking the bike, but taking the chain and leaving the bike is PREPOSTEROUS!!! what is this world coming to? however I'm all for it if thieves start stealing car alarms and leaving the cars, those things are annoying. sho nuff!
  • I'm amazed Dick Chainey hasn't been blamed..
  • Chain chain chain... Chain of fools...
  • If arrested will these guys wind up on a chain gang.
  • no, back on the chain gang
  • Forward this post to 10 of your friends and you will have great luck today.

(get it...? :-k   )
  • will that create a chain reaction.
  • or an unchained melody
  • I often wondered how they got loose
  • Unchain my heart
  • Unchain my heart
  • I can still hear you sayin' you would never break the chain.
  • say you'll love me forever
  • AAANND IIIII-EEE-III WILL ALWAYS...

    *cough*
  • I'm tired of hearing this nonsense, please chain the subject.
  • actually the subject was de-chained and hopefully the thieves' will be detained
  • Unchained...and you hit the ground runnin'
  • i don't mean to be a buzzkill, but i live near 15th and 7th, and have been known walk the streets of the slope at 10AM. did we decide the mugging didn't actually happen?

If you walk outside at 10 am on your off days, then the chances of you drinking coffee in the morning is very high, and if you make your coffee at home, you probably pour it in a mug. So you get what you deserve. Live by the mug, die by the mug, you get no sympathy from me. sho nuff!
  • Great analogy, there's another thing to be aware of, when we have high humidity and the forecast is for Muggy weather, it's time to stay home.
  • Anything can happen any time any where. Yesterday evening on 4th Avenue in the "South Slope" I saw a man on a bike get hit by a car. The man on the bike survived. After the car driver realized that he had hit the man on the bike, instead of stopping to see if the bike rider was dead or alive, the car driver stepped on the gas and sped off like a rocket.
