  • I'm not familiar with that block, but from my apartment-hunting days I had a good impression of the overall area -- very diverse, generally safe, about equal distance to the Q and F trains, and various good restaurants in short-walking distance. I think it's an area I'd definitely consider living in, although I ended up settling down elsewhere.
  • Thanks for your advice. I wasn't totally into CIA late at night (seems kinda deserted) also 8 blocks frm the Q and 12 from the F....
  • You might be right about CIA in that area, all the places I've lived have been farther south where the street is more busy and I have never found it deserted or scary at night.

As far as the subway access, it's definitely not ideal, but I used to live on E 8th and walked to the Q train every day, it was not bad after I got used to it. I don't think the F train is quite that far away, since the Ditmas Ave station has a secondary entrance near Cortelyou Rd.

Anyway, good luck with your search!
  • I live near there. It seems to be a descent neighborhood.

If you have an unlimited Metrocard, have the time and don't want to walk it, you can take the bus on CIA towards Church Ave. and take the 35 bus towards the Q or towards the F. The walk to the Q on Cortelyou can be fun with the stores and restaurants to look at. Don't trust the 23 going towards it, it runs every 1/2 hour. And the walk to the Q thru those beautiful homes on your way to Church Ave. can be a great experience.
  • I don't know anything about that block but your avatar is cute.
  • ha thanks. they are my two adopted cats - both found through one connection or another off brooklynian.com's adoptable pets forum.

kinda regretting night taking that place on east 9th cause it was *HUGE* but also carpeted, which is rough with cats. (lots of hair to vacuum daily!)
