homemade ice cream shops
I'm currently searching for an ice cream place that makes cakes. Specially a wedding ice cream cake.
I've had no luck whatsoever with Uncle Louie G's as the girls that work there are no delivering my message to the manager/owner (?) Mike who makes the speciality cakes.
I've already check Brooklyn Ice Cream factory, Blue Marble, Sweet Melissa Creamerie. I'm now stuck on where else to look.
Obviously does not have to be in Park Slope, but I would like to keep it in Brooklyn.

i can't think of a specific place, but an ice cream cake seems very "old school," so looking at more "old school" Brooklyn neighborhoods could lead to some places. this is purely me thinking aloud, though. good luck!

I know it's not homemade, but I've had some really great ice cream cakes from Baskin Robbins.

Try Mrs. Maxwell's on Atlantic. You'll have to look up the cross street, but they are out past Pennsylvania Avenue. They do all kinds of specialty cakes including ice cream, butter cream and whipped cream. They've been around for at least 40-50 years.

crap, I thought this thread was about how to make an ice cream shop at home.

I would second the rec for Mrs Maxwell's on Atlantic. So good... very old school cakes.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just decided to suck it up and forget my budget and get the cake from Trois Pommes. Emily is great to work with and her ice cream is awesome.

Carvel is famous for ice cream cakes

ha.
I can kinda picture Fudgie The Whale redone as a bridal veil . . .
What's the $$ range on Trois Pommes ice cream cakes? Are ice cream cakes something they advertise, or a special request?
I was going to suggest asking Tempo Presto about it . . . their pistachio-cherry gelato is so good it might make you want to get married...
 -
The cakes are not something they advertise. We really like their ice cream and just decided to ask if they make ice cream cakes. She's done some in the past, so it wasn't a big deal to do it for us. The price is more or less the same as her regular cakes.
Basically we are getting two 14" cakes, one chocolate the other vanilla chocolate chip with the little chocolate crunchies (like on Carvel cakes) covered in Chocolate because I hate whip cream. The total, plus delivery is $350.
But frankly for homemade ice cream, made by the owner of the shop it is worth it to us to spend the money. And like I said earlier, Emily is fantastic to work with - and that is a big selling point. -
The caramel crunch ice cream at Trois Pommes is honestly one of my favorite tastes in the world. Emily is great - and I told her I HOPE they never are out of caramel crunch. If you haven't had it - try it! It is SO good!!!!!!! buttery, slightly salty, slightly burnt caramel taste... mmmmmm
