WT 8/9 @1PM: Bus driving down PPW says 'Call 911' — Brooklynian

WT 8/9 @1PM: Bus driving down PPW says 'Call 911'

Subject: WT 8/9 @1PM: Bus driving down PPW says 'Call 911'

I saw a city (MTA) bus driving down PPW (toward 15th St.) around 1 PM. There seemed to be only the driver and one other person in it. The message board on the side of the bus (where it would normally say the route) said "EMERGENCY" and on the back message board "CALL COPS 911."

Did anyone else see this? Know why this would be? (I did call 911 just to be safe and gave them the details...but am now wondering if this is just an error message or something?)

  • How freaky! I would have called as well!
  • hubby and i saw the same odd thing 6 months ago (in almost the same spot, no less!), and at that time we called 911 as well. you did the right thing by calling. it was probably a mistake on the part of the driver and he/she hit the wrong switch.
  • It's good that you called- but may have been an error that I don't think they can fix just by flipping the switch. Once it happened as I was getting on a bus- but the bus seemed normal as it pulled to my stop, so I brought it up and next thing I knew we were stalled for a while as the driver tried to turn off the message and reset the line/destination info. (and everyone kindly thanked me for opening my mouth haha that was a great time...)
