Any suggestions for a baby shower in November? Approx 40 people.
Park Slope, Dumbo, Carrol Gardens, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Bay Ridge etc?????

Thanks in advance-

  • Bubbie's in Dumbo.
  • I threw a baby shower for about 50 (but 40 would be more ideal) at Magnolia which worked out nicely.

I also rented out the second floor of Old First Church (its a really nice space...something I didn't expect at the back of a church) for a baby shower that required a different sort of vibe than a seated meal. I had to rent, set up and break down everything myself though so that was a lot of work. I'd only recommend it if you are doing something non traditional.

    Hope that helps.
  • Bubby's is great (I'm getting married there in October). For a party that size, they would probably rent out the upstairs area for you, so while it's not exactly an enclosed private area, you would be the only people sitting up there. Jojo is the coordinator and if you email her she generally answers back pretty quickly. I think you can get a lot of the prices off their website - www.bubbys.com

Another choice would be to rent out the Old Stone House and bring in your own caterer.
  • Uh oh. Some's bringing a new Scorpio into the world?
  • no actually a january baby
    capricorn I believe!!!!!!
  • I am such a fan of Bubby's for staging a special event. Hey I am a fan of the place period! My son is getting married in august in Clove Lake, Staen Island and the facility is gorgeous but he is a Brooklyn boy and I wish they would have chosen Bubby's. I do think that you will get the private party thing is they give you the "balcony" area upstairs. I have been downstairs when an event up there was going on and the acustics in the place somehow baffle sound instead of augmenting it so I think you will be fine. The food is good.. and depending on budget they will work with you.
