JFK Longterm Parking?

Leaving on a Fri morning for a wedding in Chicago. Coming back Sunday. Anyone have experience and know what the parking situation is like in the long term lot at that time? The price ends up being cheaper than taking a car service but I don't want to get stressed out looking for a spot while my flight is about to take off. What do you fellow Brooklynians recomend??

    I left my car on a Sunday morning and got it around Wednesday late like 1am (so actually Thursday morning). It was $60. So like $20 cheaper than a cab. It's basically $5 every 8 hours. You take the air train from the lot to your Gate. Gate 1 is the first stop. Luckily I flew out of Gate 1 and into Gate 7 so the Air Tran ride was short both times.

    I wouldn't do it again because I'll pay $20 for the convenience of a cab.

    It's $15 per day (and if you do a partial day it goes to $15 pretty easily). I just did it for a week.

    Now I have to go away for 2 weeks and need a better solution to get my car off the street

    Just leave extra time... we've never h ad to search for a spot for more than 10 min or so. If it's really full, just head for the outer rows and save yourself the searching time.

    There's also deals online to find cheaper rates.

    Oh, and remember to mark your row on your ticket so you don't wander around the lot like an idiot with your car alarm key chain trying to find it (whistling and looking around for the person who forgot to do that, and refusing to look in mirror :-) )

    Yikes! For 2 weeks, I would just find a friend who would be excited to move your car for you (aka have a car for two weeks). But that's me... I hate spending money on stuff like that.

    Yep, that's likely the plan...although the person who I'd ask first is going away at the same exact time as I am :-(

    We've done it a few times and found it to be very convenient. We just leave a little extra time to get to our gate, but there is even a tram that will take you to the Air Train station--everything is very clearly marked and quiet efficient.

    As far as finding the car when we got back? We take our GPS (need it for our rental car when away anyway) and put a waypoint where we park the car. When we get back to the station, we just turn on the gps and walk to the car.

    I always use Avistar (avistarparking.com). It's a bit more expensive, but they take you directly to your airline via bus, and they pick you up when you get back. Your car is waiting for you, with A/C or heat turned on, depending on the weather. Plus, you don't have to worry about having it stolen or broken into, or trying to find it in the parking lot.

    I'm going away for a couple of weeks at the end of the month and have done some research. The garage a block from my house is only charging us $11/per day (around $80/week) which sounds great to me for knowing that my car will be safe and sound and also that I won't have to drive myself home after an exhausting 13 hour flight.
