Park Slope Rock School?

I am a Musician/Educator with experience teaching rock band and other music after school programs. I live in the area and I'm developing a weekend Rock Band school in a rehearsal space on St. Marks.

Curriculum would include band rehearsals, songwriting, guest master classes and a final project of recording a CD in a professional studio.

I have references available. Would anyone be interested? I'm testing the waters to see the response. It's a lot of fun for everyone involved and a great educational experience for the kids!

Let me know what you think.

There is a "school of rock" for teenagers somewhere around here.
  • This would focus on 8-14 year olds. I know the Berkeley Carroll School has a Rock division of their music program, but I don't know of any independent Slope programs.

    Spread the word!
  • Sounds good to me, I have an almost 3rd grader who plays piano-he would love a rock school!
  • why don't you post your contact info here? Not everyone wants their business or their kids' business known online. I think you'll get a great response! Good luck!
  • There's a Willie Mae Rock Camp For Girls coming up next weekend

    (They're moving to DUMBO)

They also do Ladies Rock Camp, for those of you who are not tweens
    :D

    Thanks!

  • Sounds like fun and I know my 12 year would be interested but it all boils down to $$. Hopefully yours will be reasonable ;)
  • I'm with Stacy, sounds like fun, but, will it be affordable ?
  • Subject: Rock School

My 11 year old is in a rock band and is a pretty avid player, so I guess he would be interested.
    My questions are these;
    What is your "lesson plan"?
    What are your projected fees?
Are you planning on teaching any theory in the process of the band development?
I love the idea of my son's band having a band director, and being involved in a band work shop, but I want them to improve as overall musicians as well as becoming rock players.
