Crown Heights Unites Coalition: Day of Unity and Remembrance
Dear Friend:
The Crown Heights Unites Coalition is a grassroots organization established by a diverse group of community leaders and local individuals to combat persistent crime, youth violence and social disorder.
The event will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Brower Park, lower level (St. Marks and Kingston Aves.), Brooklyn, NY, from 12pm-5pm; to address the escalating violence in our communities. This event is sponsored by Assemblyman Karim Camara, 43rd District.
The Day of Unity and Remembrance will feature music, speakers, inspiration, activities, and resources. The day’s events will close with a ceremony remembering and honoring victims of violence in our community. We are confident that this event will not only be poignant, but a way to bring many residents together.
The event will surely be memorable, and demonstrate to our community that the escalating violence has not gone unnoticed and is not acceptable. We hope the residents will see that there are alternatives to the streets, and various resources available. We would also like to provide those affected by violent crime with information on support groups and/or counseling to help cope with their loss.
If you would like to learn more about becoming a vendor, performer, or volunteer please do not hesitate to contact Jervonne F. Singletary (718) 756-1776 or e-mail [email protected].
Warm wishes,
Crown Heights Unites Coalition
