Suggestions for patio privacy screen — Brooklynian

Suggestions for patio privacy screen

Does any have suggestions for a privacy screen/fence for a patio? I live in an apt. building where there is patio space (share) with a low chain link fence dividing each space.

I would like a screen for privacy obviously, but also to filter the noise as well. Since I rent, I do not want to invest a lot of time or money for the fence either.

  • Subject: Try bamboo in pots

You might be able to find some bamoo in pots at a gardening store reasonably cheap. It gets tall and leafy and it almost impossible to kill.
  • Thanks bohuma! I haven't seen any at the gardening place in Red Hook (the name escapes me).

But I could probably look around for fake bamboo and stick them in planters with rocks as well. Even less maintenance. :)
  • You can put up some bamboo fencing which is really, really easy to do all you need is the fencing and some twist tie wire. This place is really good and inexpensive

You can also put up one of these blinds:

I gave you the Pearl River site because they have more of a selection of sizes in bamboo. Lowes has the same think but plastic. I had these in my backyard and all we did was attach 2 screw hooks to the ceiling and done.

I don't know how much noise it will cut down but you can affix some old fabric to one side of it which may cut down the noise.
  • Stacey, I like the bamboo fencing. I will measure the area and go to the price quote section of the site for total project costs.

The window blinds may be a bit much in terms of measuring and ensuring coverage. BTW, I think Pearl Paint was where I saw the fake bamboo poles.
