New AMC movie theater at 3rd and 3rd?

My friend stumbled across this listing on Moviefone that implies AMC is building a theater called the "Old American Can Factory" on 3rd St. near the canal.

I can't find anything else about this place except similar pages on other movie listing sites. Anyone have more info? Is this an occasional screening place, maybe?

  • Third and third? That's where Whole Foods was going to rise from the mists...
  • Yeah, perhaps they are referring to the huge former-artist-squat building across the street (to the North) from the Whole Foods site.
  • What a lovely place to stroll back home from after an evening movie....
  • False alarm, I think. The phone # puts you through to Rooftop Films, which sometimes screens up there. Doesn't seem like a multiplex is about to move in.
  • Now I can look forward to not seeing a film there after not buying my groceries at not Whole Foods...
  • But that would be the perfect thing next to the toxic waste....er, canal. NOTHING can penetrate PVC carpet fibers or styrofoam popcorn of a movieplex.
