Best way to get to Laguardia from the Slope?

Train to bus will take about 2 hours. It's a pain in the ass if you have luggage. Last time I took a car service to LGA from this area it cost me $55, I think.

$55!!! That's nuts. Aricibo and/or Eastern car service are both $30 from very south park slope to LGA. Definitely take a cab. -
We always do the bus / subway. Its pretty easy, but takes 2 hours. Its always coming back that suck .... especially if you come back early on a weekend.
-
I took a yellow cab from LGA to Union St/4th Ave yesterday at 5pm. It was $31 w/ tip ($26.30 on the meter before tip)... and it only took a half hour.

Has anyone tried ETS Air Shuttle or the Super Shuttle from La Guardia? WWw.panynj.gov says they offer shared van service from Brooklyn.
-
I used to do Super Shuttle in San Francisco, and it's fine if you have the patience to wait while everybody in the van is dropped off before you.
-
I looked into the shuttle and it wasn't that cheap or conenient if you were by yourself. Take a cab.

Last time I went to La Guardia I took 4/5 to 125th St, then the M60 bus right into the airport. It cost nothing on my unlimited MetroCard, and took about 1.5 hours. This was maybe 10am on a weekday, FWIW.
-
Yeah, I used to live near Columbia, and the M60 is definitely the way to go in that neck of the woods. This is for my mother in law, though, and she doesn't want to get lost and/or confused on the subways. If I was going myself, this is the way I'd do it, for sure.

If there's one thing that's worth every single penny is taking a car service to and from the airport. Long flights, dealing with security, crappy bag of peanuts, crying babies... at the end of that I want to get home FAST. $30 is totally worth that to me. Also, I'm too stressed out before a flight to deal with trains/buses, I've seen way too many people miss there flights.

Mother in law? = car service all the way.
It's not worth it to get creative, and coming from Brooklyn, there are no straightforward ways to get to an airport other than car. Arecibo should be around 36 bux. -
If cost is a concern, you can take the subway to Port Authority or Grand Central and then take the New York Airport Service bus -- it's like $12 one-way and takes about 40 minutes once you're on the bus. I'm not sure where it parks at Grand Central, but they line up right on the street (42nd) on the North side of Port Auth. and you can buy a ticket from the guy right outside the bus (you don't have to go into P.A.) They have buses to all the airports, actually.

How many brooklynians does it take to screw in a light bulb...? I mean get to La Guardia?
Anyway, I just called Areciebo.. $30 to the airport.
I agree with Mamacita, you've got to take a car service to and from the airport... it's the difference between door to door jaunt taking about 25 min and a 2 plus hour journey..
Considering a plane ticket costs $200, $400, $800 the premium (aprox. $20) for taking a car amounts to somewhere between 1.5% and 10% (at the very most)...
Not to mention most cars will let you smoke.. plus you get to burn a little extra fossil fuel. -
If this is for your mother-in-law...believe me the cost of the car service is totally worth it. I would recommend 7th Avenue Car Service they are quick and polite.

Work is often paying for the ticket, with an unlimited MetroCard 4/5 to M60 is effectively free saving a full $30 on the 90 minute trip. Instead of stressing that time, I use it to relax and read, or prep for whatever I might be doing on the trip. But hey, if you've got the extra $60 + tips then more power to ya, go fer it.

And I would definitely spring the $30 for the mother-in-law, without a doubt. -
If you can afford to live in PS, you can afford a dumb $30 bucks.
Edit to add: I know it sounds mean, but come on, at the price of airfare nowadays?!? I have to agree with drunkenR. Which is a scary thought

$60 + tips round trip.
And, shoot, is this the PS board?!?! Damn, I'd better head back to CrownHeights then...

Mother-in-law?? MTA bus...definately. She may need to take 4 or 5 transfers but it's the best option.

They pay for your airfare but you can't expense a cab to the airport? Or...wait a second...do you use the free metrocard route and then expense the cab anyway? Ah ha! I think I just uncovered the secret to Daver's magical debt reduction plan!

F Train all the way to Jackson Heights-
Roosevelt Avenue / Q 33 to Laguardia.
The bus transfer is right upstairs in the station since the station renovations. The V train allows the F to zoom through Queens. -
Just a warning that the Q33 bus doesn't run that frequently particularly if you are leaving on a weekend and it gets VERY crowded which is difficult when you have luggage.
Howdy, Stranger!
