"Chicken Cockroach Parmigiana from Slope’s Tutta Pasta?
August 18th, 2008
"We do love our stories of restaurant food that shows up with some extra protein. So it is with the alleged Chicken Parmigiana con Cockroach from Tutta Pasta on Seventh Avenue in Park Slope. This appetizing tale comes from a Park Slope Parents email and we present it in the interest of keeping the dining public on its toes. What we find especially interesting, as is the case in most such cases, is the described reaction of management:
"Last night my husband, 4 yr old daughter & I ordered 3 entrees from Tutta Pasta. I went to take a bite of my Chicken Parmagiana with pasta & noticed a lovely, sizable cockroach in the container. My husband called the restaurant to let them know & demand a refund for all the entrees and the owner said ” Only 1 entree had a bug, the others are fine.” So, I guess that is the level of quality & service one gets from Tutta Pasta. Just thought I would share that with you all, as I was completely sickened from this experience."
"Definitely a good call on the part of management, given that thousands of people now know that they’re serving up cockroaches with the Chicken Parm at Tutta Pasta. Or is it Tutta Roacha? Bella Roacha?"

This is giving me a post traumatic stress moment from my roach wrap. Thanks a lot

Gentrifiers! Those roaches were here long before you!!

That place sucks.. it has always sucked.
Oh, wait, is this not one of those "favorite restaurant" threads?
With that said how about some fun facts about the lovable roach..
They:
- can live without a head for a week -- they eventually die of thirst
- can hold their breath for 40 minutes
- have a life span of about 2.5 years
also,
- The worlds largest cockroach had a one foot wingspan
- The actual word "Roachclip" was granted as a registered trademark of the United States Patent and Trademark Office to Matthew Leitz on December 27, 2005. The official registered use is a "Toy roach with a clip attached so it may be worn as a pin or used as prank to scare a friend." -

w.t.f. not ok. -
this reminds me of the time, a couple of years ago, when i was sitting at the bar of a certain restaurant that is still open on 2nd street, when my companion looked at me and recoiled in horror (more so than usual) at almost the exact same moment that i felt an itchy feeling on my right cheek. a woman sitting next to my companion gasped loudly, and i wiped my face, and then looked down to see that i'd brushed-off a waterbug, an inch-and-a-half long, off my face.
much ee-yew'ing ensued. we all told the bartender what'd happened, and the woman sitting nearby suggested, loudly, that he should at least give me a free drink. he gave her a condescending look, and said 'are you kidding?'
the bug was bad enough, but his reaction to what seemed like a reasonable suggestion was the greater insult.
i've never been back to that place. -

While I agree that roach-in-food is completely unacceptable, what makes you think, even if management comped all their food, that they wouldn't be online complaining anyway?
Definitely a good call on the part of management, given that thousands of people now know that they’re serving up cockroaches with the Chicken Parm at Tutta Pasta. Or is it Tutta Roacha? Bella Roacha?
And unfortunately, calling a restaurant after a delivery to complain about a bug you found in your food, only makes management think that maybe it crawled in there when it arrived on your countertop.
Just sayin' -
File this under "you aksed for it":
I was at Popeye's chicken in Bushwick (yep, I aksed for it), tyring to get my leg and thigh on.
As I ordered, a roach that was at least an inch and a half long (seriously) crawled up the wall next to the register. As everytone on line gasped and screamed in horror the employees didn't acknowledge it in the slgihtest and continued trying to take our orders.
Finally, in response to the literal shrieks of terror and disgust, the manager came up form the back with a square of paper towel, smashed it, and returned to the back of the store with nary a pause.
Needless to say I walked out. -
Mmm.....Mmm...Mmm! Yummy cacaroach.
Ooooh! How yummy.
Dammit , my bro in law orders pasta for lunch a lot from some place on 7th Ave , and I think this place might be it.
I will ask him and if says Caca Pasta , then I'm gonna tell him about the cacaroach.
He will be so grossed out. :puker: :puker: :puker: :puker: :puker: :puker: :puker: -

Uh, gosh, when I led off by saying courtesy of Gowanus Lounge..and ended it with a link - I thought you'd know none of the words were mine - just sayin' -
if most "factory farmed" chicken meat eaters knew what goes on in the raising and processing of chicken meat you would be begging for a cockroach parm!
-
yeah, I know I always try to get free-range cockroaches for just that reason

Nah, too expensive compared to regular cockroaches, even at the Co-op. -

Fuel on 5th ave -
We had a bug in our soup from there years ago. Went back about 8 months later to give it another shot and a baby one crawled out from under the salt shaker. Never went back.

That is what I thought. Every time I walk by Fuel (near 20th street?) all I think of is cockroaches! -

On the contrary, I did notice where your quotes were placed, so I did in fact, realize that the part I quoted (from you) were yours. Correct? And the questions I asked were purely rhetorical. Kinda. Nothing personal, mmmkay?

No, nothing personal at all

But for the sake of editorial integrity I placed quotes around it all and even added a nota bene

This presents an interesting concept, sandwiches that deliver themselves.
