Mr. Green Tea ice cream?
It seems that the local delis have stopped carrying this amazing ice cream. I asked the lady who works at one of the deli's on 7th avenue why they stopped carrying it. She said something about it being discontinued but she didnt know why?
I'm crushed because its the best ice cream ever, not too sweet and low in calories/saturated fat. She mentioned other people have been coming in and asking, so does anyone have any other info, or know a deli that still has it?
The company seems to be somewhat of a mystery, as they only sell to restaurants and delis and they dont have a website, and they dont answer emails..
what to do?? They cant discontinue my favorite ice cream

some links i managed to find but they dont give any links to contact info...

they discontinued it because after years of use people would tend to reply to their own posts.

Gee, thanks for the helpful info superjonbot.
Sounds like someone needs to get a life if all they have to offer is crass comments at 2 in the morning to a post which they have nothing useful to add. -
Cabaki,
If you want me to lure superjonbot into a dark alley and bite him, then let me know. Um, also, let me know if you know of any dark alleys in Park Slope..
Come to think of superjonbot's are usually pretty funny if not always helpful... then again, we could all use a smile.... or a good reason to bite someone from time to time.
Carry on. DR is going on a beer run. It's noon somewhere. -
Uh, thanks DR - I'll let u know if I come across any dark alleys.
Don't mean to be crabby, but its a bad time to make sarcastic jokes when someone's fave ice cream flavor is possibly in jeapordy!
Luckily I was able to contact the business owner to find out he still makes the ice cream, but only sells it to businesses as he has yet to embark on a direct-to-consumer business. Apparently the subcontractors who were making the ice cream for them were doing a bad job so they are going to be doing that themselves now, which has postponed their delivery to the small deli's I used to buy the ice cream from. -
Ha, ha, this reminds me of my search for Popcorn, Indiana Kettle Corn -- I was very addicted for a while. I even emailed them once. Found out it's actually made locally in LI, not Indiana. :?

I got this popcorn at my local deli yesterday and could not stop eating it, and eventually finished the whole bag within a few minutes. Funny that they advertise it after a city in Indiana even though its made in new jersey. -
OMFG I love Mr. Green Tea ice cream. I used to get it at Junior's at 8th & 11th. Glad to hear they're going to be rolling it out again. I make milkshakes with it and the green-tea powder I get at the Japanese grocery near my office.
-
DNY on Flatbush has always carried it.

I knew I wasnt the only nut obsessed with it!

Probably a Hoggen-Dazs conspiracy.
It might not be as nutritious or affordable as Mr. Green Tea, but TastiDlite near the Food Co-op serves tasty soft ice cream. -

She's not "having difficulty figuring out why!"
She having difficulty figuring out why you guys don't have your act together and get us some damn icecream. This is important stuff here!!! There's obviously a demand, just google it and the first page is filled with people looking for this stuff.

I will be helping them out with their consumer website initiative as a result of my initial phone call, and my suggestions to them in regards to offering their ice cream directly to consumers, as they only previously sold it to other businesses.
We hope to have something up soon for all you Mr. Green Tea fanatics!
Oh, and i just want to clarify that the Ciao Bello's green tea ice cream has white chocolate bits in it, and is not to be confused with the original Mr. Green Tea ice cream, which Richard's father originally invented many years ago. Mr Green tea tastes much better, and is the original!!! -

Holy crap, yes! I tried this for the first time this past weekend, and I ended up snarfing down the whole pint in one sitting. SO GOOD.
Can't let myself buy that too often. -
I usu get my greentea ice cream at Park Slope Seafood, 7th ave 3/4 St. I am not sure if its the same brand you're looking for but its very light and yet creamy. They even have Azuki bean ice cream which is even better!
