Because everyone obviously has complete control over when they need to go places and the airlines' schedules of doable flights that cost an arm, leg, and other appendage of your choice?
Not that I care.
I fly private.
Fuck y'all. -

I know you're special! I can smell it. And yes, "everyone...has complete control" ALWAYS, goddamit. So give it up. Give it up to me!!!!
(Hey, fuck ALL y'all. I've never needed three hours R/T to Newark in my life.) -
 Oops. Carmen I'm one of the guilty parties who said 30 minutes each way. Apologies for your miserable commute but I didn't take EZ Pass into account either. Not to flog a dead horse, but EZ Pass does make all the difference in the world and you only pay for what you use, even if it's only once or twice a year. They probably should have more cash lanes but in reality they never do (saves on salaries for man power I guess). Anyway sorry you had a bad trip.

EZ-Pass is better, but no way does it turn a 3.5 hour round trip into a 1 hour round trip. FWIW. When it is SNAFU, it is SNAFU and that is that. As far as EZ-Pass, BTW, hit some parts of NJ Turnpike, like say coming onto it from Goethals in the AM rush hours. You'll find big lines waiting for EZ-Pass, smooth sailing if you wanna fork up the cash. So it goes both ways, depending where you are at. But yah, I recommend EZ-Pass as well, at least you have the option that way. But it messes with my paranoia a bit. Except I figure with all the cameras on the license plates anyhow, they've already got me, so whateva. -
I did PPSW to Newark on a Friday last July starting 6:30pm. Travel time was around 90min total.
I too have experienced a reverse cash v. EZpass backup favoring the former at about 1 out of 20 toll areas I've passed through. But, I'll keep it for the Whitestone, Battery, Holland, Lincoln, GWB, GSP, Triboro, 95 down to DC and up to Mass., and out to PA. -

Route? For my future reference.
That is some damn good time there for that time on a Friday. Hell, for any day at that time. -
On a summer Friday outbound to Central Jersey you can make the risky assumption vacationers aren't returning until Sat or Sun. Weekenders have already gone Thursday night, or Friday morning or midday.
Battery Tunnel: if it makes any sense at all do everything you can to approach via the Prospect into the Gowanus (going via Hamilton can backfire bigtime after 3pm and there's that always shifting construction), and get in your far left lane asap. Out of the tunnel get to your far left again and be as aggressive as possible, avoiding the car service Lincolns, tourists, gawkers. Right on Canal get to the two far left lanes immediately. Then straight out via 1/9 South Express - Pulaski Skyway. On the way back exit out of the Holland get far right and push hard to West St. Then stay away from traffic going left to Canal and Chambers but make sure to get into the left underpass to the Battery.
Always keep an eye out for traffic cops waving you on against a light, and do what they say gladly!
I actually enjoy the game and you might be able to tell I'm an aggressive driver. I probably save myself a total of five minutes and needlessly blow another 5 bucks in gas. -

Ladies and Gentleman (yup, we got ONE,) behold the voice of experience!

Seriously, that sounds like some of my routes to work that I've worked up over time in fits of aggression, lol. I'll have to try that sometime, but I think I'll need to pre-run it first.
As far as the aggressive driving, I've had a bad week. My gas mileage has been dipping and dipping and dipping lately, I think I've finally hit rock bottom. Maybe.
Thanks for the info! -
Always happy to spread the wisdom amongst the young'uns. And props to Carmen, I'm all about the manual tranny. Keeps the mileage up.
Also - constant manic checking of Sirius traffic (and or 1010/880 AM) doesn't hurt. Last night I came from upstate via TapZee, Triboro, BQE avoiding my usual Thruway/GSP/GWB to either West Side or FDR to Battery Route.
Go now, young Padawan. Jedi, out. (I assume yr good for getting to JFK and LI - hip to Eastern Pky, yes?)
Howdy, Stranger!
