Cell Phone Towers
I am concerned with the increasing number of cell phone towers that seem to be going up in our neighborhood.
The one I am thinking of is on Clinton between Myrtle and Willoughby, although I know of several others that have been put up within the past few years. One day it was not there and then the next day, there it was - with no community notice or discussion.
I realize that there is a lot of debate regarding whether or not these towers do or do not have negative health effects, but it seems risky to place them on relatively low-lying structures (six stories or less). What is the best way to address these concerns -- can or will Brooklyn politicians address this issue? Or is there another way?

There are ways to block them but once they are up there is no recourse. If you have a strong civic association, they would know the way to go about it. Here in Marine Park I believe they blocked cell towers going up, but they stopped it before the constuction was complete. If you don't have a civic association contact your local polititian. Unless s/he doesn't want to get reelected, they'll listen.

Treetop, I don't know about cell phone towers specifically, but I've found our Councilwoman, Tish James, to be pretty responsive to community concerns, especially quality of life ones. I'd give her office a call.
Last time I contacted her office she called me back personally, and it was just a landmarking question.
