Help - Skippy is lost!!!! — Brooklynian

Help - Skippy is lost!!!!

anonymous
edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
I was out of town, attending my mother's funeral and my dog ran away from the person taking care of him. He is a Korean Jindo and he ran away at Eastern Pkwy & Bedford Ave. on 11/23/05.

If anyone has seen it, please report it to us. We love him dearly and we would love to get him back or least know that he is not on the street. He looks like a wolf, brown mediun size and the tip of his right is missing, he loves rubber balls and he is very playful, like a big cat. He is very nervous and a not very social breed but very loyal & protective of it's owners.
He is not on any of the shelters of Brooklyn and my only hope is that someone has taking him in.

his picture can be seen at http://www.fidofinder.com/dog.php?id=20226

Thanks for taking the time to read this posting.

  • I wish I knew where your dog is but I am responding so that this goes to the top of the list again. Maybe someone will see it???
  • Subject: skippy is lost help!!! correction

A small part of the tip of his right EAR is missing.
  • I'll keep an eye out. Keep the faith!
  • Subject: Pictures

Have you posted his picture around the neighborhood? It might help.

    Good luck!
  • Bump--good idea, dc.

ddsd580, did you also post this in the Crown Heights forum? Ordinarily I'd discourage crossposting but the address you're describing sounds like it's out that way, so you might want those eyes as well.
  • Thank you all for your advice, wishes and help. We are following your advice and suggestions. Anything that might help us find skippy.

We wish you all a happy and safe holiday with your dear ones.

  • Subject: Dog seen running towards Washington Ave.

the reason I posted in PH is because I live here and since the dog was ran towards Washington Ave. which gives us hope that he made his way to PH and tha he is close to us.
As suggested I posted too in CH

Thanks for being on the look out and caring
  • posting to make this go back to the top. also, try putting up a sign at the co-op... 10,000 members with many from PH, CH, and others.

    fingers crossed.
  • Posting to the top also, good luck. Stereo and I will keep out eyes out for him.
  • We check shelters on a regular basis, and go to post flyers everyday.
But we need extra eyes to be on the lookout for skippy.

    Thanks
  • Lulu and I will definitely be looking. good luck! So sorry you can't find him.
  • My husband trip to the shelter yesterday was without a happy ending for us but he was pleased to see many adoptions taking place yesterday.
  • Have you called BARC in Williamsburg? Alot of people bring found animals there because they treat the animals well and find good homes for them.
  • Subject: skippy - 12/3

I can almost swear I saw this dog on 12/3, he was in mount prospect park, my dog and I approached him and he then walked away from us, out of the park and into the Brooklyn Garden.

The guard stated "your dog can come in" ..I responded he's not my dog and the dog just sort of trotted into the garden.

Talk to the people at the gharden ...they likley retrieved your dog on 12/3.
  • Not certain, but my wife thinks she saw the dog heading down Putnam Ave. towards Fulton recently (Putnam and Irving), he was alone and running and he caught my wife's eye - Good Luck, that must be heartbreaking.
  • Please keeps your tips on skippy coming. Anything is better walking without a plan. We went to the gate of the garden last night, but could not see anything or anybody to ask to. This morning nobody at the park knowledges to have seen it but at least they took flyers. We feel pretty good about this tip and the garden has become now part of our regular Skippy searching route, until we fidn where in Brooklyn is Skippy.
We are off to Putnam & Irving now.
    thanks
  • We are still looking!!!!
    Skippy where are you?????

Maybe you could just call up the main line and see if they can direct you to someone who might know how best to help? The number is 718-623-7200. I'm guessing the security department is your best bet, but the operator might have other ideas.
  • Thank you for all you good advice. It has all been very helpful.
I think the garden was an actual sighting of him. The park workers kind of recognized him but he would not let them catch him.
  • i am going to the botanical gardens on saturday before noon -- if i see this rebel dog of yours, is there any secret to get him close?

will contact you a.s.a.p. if there is any skippy in sight, fingers crossed!
  • also, if you resgister an account on this board - which just takes a few seconds - you can give your phone # to people in private.

for example, if i do see him at the park... by the i get home, post a message, you check it... etc. it's too late, where as if i see him & i call you, better luck..
  • Skippy loves rubber balls, he would prefer them over food or treats.
At this point if he is still on the streets, I would imagine he must be hungry, just in case in addition to his leach and treats I also carry a rubber ball with me.

I just register, as suggested and our phone number is listed along with skippy's picture.

    Thank you

Hmm, you don't seem to have signed in, though, so we still can't get to your profile to check the pic!

you rule. i think the cold froze my brain. eep!
  • Sorry about the confusion I created. I had a typo on my original posting, It was mean to be dds580, not ddsd580, so I registered as dds580.
my number is listed posting of skippy's picture, all the way at the bottom.

    Are you a dentist?
  • Subject: Skippy is still missing!!!

Another weekend without news, nor sighting of our beloved dog.
To make things worst I got a bad cold, I guess from being so much out in this cold weather, so I was out of circulation for two days.

And then, when our hope starts to diminish, some one e-mails us telling us not to give up, wishing us luck on our search. Sometimes people send us the same found dog over and over, but that's OK because At least we know that someone has his/her eye looking for skippy and that brings our hope that one day, we would find him.
