  • Welcome!

Union Hall has some cool nights with game shows, science clubs, karaoke, etc. A few other bars have trivia nights (I think there's a thread about that). Yelp.com also does free local Brooklyn events that are almost exclusively based on meeting new people and talking about neighborhoods. There's The Shining showing tomorrow night at Brooklyn Bridge Park, a ton of cute coffee shops (Naidre's, Ozzies, Postmark, Trois Pommes to name a few), the Friday night bar crawl, the Saturday night bike ride, Spoke The Hub offers dance and community classes (enrollment now, classes start in 2 weeks, everything from balet to hip hop and in between) and a ton of other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Or you could always belly up to a decent bar at Happy Hour (Commonwealth is my personal fave) and you'll probably meet people that way as well.
  • When I first moved back to the City in 1990, before there was a World Wide Web, I joined ECHO a virtual community, you dialed in directly to their modems, They are now echonyc.com and you can get there through the internet. There were lots of face to face meet ups and though I no longer subscribe I still have a few freinds from when I did.

Also try looking at meetup.com for gourps with your interestes adn as someone else noted look into joining the food coop
