I've recently moved to Clinton Hill from Prospect Heights and I wanted to gauge the interest in having a happy hour. Over the years, it's been a fun way to meet neighbors and there's plenty of places around here I've been slow about checking out so far. I don't think there's been one on this side of Atlantic yet, so let me know if you're interested in giving it a shot.

    So, there's some interest. I need some input on the where/when.

    I'd probably rule out somewhere like Habana Outpost for it because it can get too packed in there. There's plenty of other places to choose from: Moe's, Mirrors, Rope, Sputnik, Olivino, Alibi, for starters.

    As for when, maybe not next week because of Labor Day, but how's the week after that?

    Lox or Frank's would both be excellent for this as they both have backyards and good drink prices.

    I live right around the corner from Lox and I swear I only see it open like twice a week, but it's on the list for sure.

    I have no problem with Frank's. Don't they charge a cover some nights though?

    Weekends- and it ain't cheap. It used to be the place to be, then they put it in NY Mag and all these assholes from Williamsburg showed up wearing sunglasses at night. Frank got wise and started charging at the door.

    But....Sunday's is cool- they have jazz and sometimes Cecil Taylor (who lives around the corner) shows up. Look him up. He's a legend.

    Moe's is the worst - expensive prices for an okay atmosphere. I like going to the Alabi for happy hour $3 drafts! I'm not sure of the price of well-drinks though. Happy hour there lasts until 8:00, a lot of locals hang out there, they have a garden with picnic benches in the back & quite a bit of seating.

    Moe'- eh, I feel the same way, although its really about who's there that makes/breaks it for me. I like Alibi!

    I like Alibi too. I like bars in general, as long as they're not too expensive. I passed by Lox this past Tuesday and I was surprised to see that they were open and that they apparently have some sort of R&B/hip hop karaoke night. I heard someone doing Patti Labelle and another person doing 2Pac. Amazing!

    Let's make this happy hour happen, people! Next week. Some time between Monday and Friday. Pick the the place at the top of the thread.

    It's on DeKalb between Vanderbilt and Clermont for those that don't know it.
