Calculate your Obama Tax Cut

I suspect most people here will do quite well under his tax plan.

Devils advocate: Bush's tax cut did me $166.08 better...

John McCain would tax you $495.11 MORE than Barack Obama.
Yeah, I can rationalize that into spending $1000 on a trip somewhere warm if Obama wins! -
Seems to favor double-income over single-income families earning the same amount. Not that I necessarily disagree with that (in fact, I don't support the federal definition of 'family' for favorable tax treatment purposes, even though I obtain substantial benefit from the status quo here compared with alternative countries) but I found it interesting.

That's a huge POS. When McCain would save you more than Obama, they conveniently leave that line off. When Obama costs you more than what you are paying currently, instead of showing you the calculated amount, it just says that Obama would _probably_ not save you any money. Whatta bunch of crap. At least be honest and show the numbers, letting the cards fall where they will.

Fuckheads. I went to source charts from taxpolicycenter.org that the calculator was based on. My projected tax cut is $2,400 under Obama (calc), $3,400 under McCain (chart).
Not that I believe a tax cut to be a good thing, necessarily. I'd rather have services, or even better a BALANCED BUDGET. _That_ would be nice. But play with the numbers on the calc and watch how the McCain line disappears whenever it suits them. And this whole Obama rally I keep hearing repeated about how he is better under $250k is a load of crap. On that calc for Single he outpaces McCain at $100k, which is quite a different line. -
Yeah, I got about $4k with the Obama cut and it didn't show the McCain line. I think the point is that the vast majority of people will see a cut from Obama, and most people will do better than they would with McCain (speaking strictly about taxes here- in the bigger picture, everyone would do better with Obama). McCain's camp acts like Obama is going to raise everyone's taxes and that is what is disingenuous. Most people do better with Obama. $100k is still way above the median income. And even up to $250k, which in my book counts as rich, he's about even with McCain.

Where's the calculation for how McCain would destroy health care funding as we know it?

Non sequitur.
Besides, Obama's plan destroys health care funding as we know it as well. Destroying health care funding as we know it is neither a good nor a bad thing without an evaluation of the system put in to replace it.
None of which follows the partisan tax cut calculator. -
don't count your chickens before they hatch! The democratic party is known for increasing taxes and sending inflation soring!
I have no doubt that we will enter a major recession if a democrate is in office. The chance is still there for a recession with a republican in office but not as likely as with the democrats.
Step outside and take a look at the big picture. Its much more then just money saved on taxes. You sweet tax refund will mean nothing if milk is $20 per gallon. -
Like I said, I'd rather have a few other things than a tax cut... Although McCain's plan doesn't help the budget or debt any more than Obama's does.
Sucky suck suck all around on this one. -

true, but winding down the Iraq war helps the budget.

there's something wrong with this calculator. Put in no dependants and check at 100, 150, 200k
I think the 200k is an error
