Well, maybe if I throw this out there I'll force myself to write more on it to save face

Check out my first port about the Safe Haven opening. Sweet Tea will be adding recipes and foodie stuff too!

  • I'm sorry, our friendship is over.
You went somewhere with hush puppies and didn't call me.

    We're breaking up.
  • mmmm fried catfish. that's a bummer on the hush puppies but hey it coulda just been that they were tryin to bang out as many as they could. i'll have pay a visit one of these nights.
  • Yay! A review of my new favorite bar and a new blog! I'll bookmark the blog so I can keep up with what you're writing--it was a fun read!

As for the bar, I've been named the first regular. (And pints are really pints--I can vouch for it!)
  • uh-oh...does this make you a foodie??

It would appear that the preferred term is "Food Bitch."

    FYI.

  • Oh wow-I had no idea that BarbQue closed up-i thought they were doing good.
  • Mamacita, I will be looking for the posts so please keep up :-)

I went there the other day for the first time, it was nice. They did not have foods yet (the owner Patric said they were opening the kitchin sometime soon) They are going to have rotating tap and planning to have some local beers....cool. I like Toby's a lot and their pizza is awesome but their beer selection is somehow limited.
  • great job mamacita, you obviously are a very talented writer. thanks for all your insights, i cant wait for your next review!
  • Calling all queers: lets take this place over... this hood is filled with yuppies, it's time to let them know who is boss! Any one interested?
  • Hey mamacita and sweetpea love it! Great job...you should ask the Amateur Gourmet to list your blog on his site - he lives on 5th Avenue

  • you are totally cracking me up with the lined up ingredients
    yeah tea and mamacita!
(and I can't stand the Amateur Gourmet. one post, funny. second post, tiresome. o well.)
  • I can't believe this place has hush puppies and fried catfish and I haven't been yet. Do you think walking 13 blocks and 2 avenues to get there will burn off some of the 3,000 calories I'm about to eat?
  • I think that you should wait til September 21, when the kitchen opens! :D I was just there last night--the place is still coming together, but I really love it. I have to admit, though, that I'm prejudiced because Noel is my favorite bartender of all time.

I'm so jealous. I'm too fickle to be an official regular anywhere. Sept 21: it is on.
  • I'll see you there! I will be eating and drinking aplenty.

I used to be a regular at The Gate, which is a mere block from home, but I followed Noel over to his new place because he's really laid back--there's never any attitude from him. And he has great taste in music. I'm really rooting for this place to do well!

And any place that is only semi-open, as Safe Haven was last night, but will open for me because I say, "Can I please have a drink?" is a place I love.
