WERE YOU ROBBED? — Brooklynian

WERE YOU ROBBED?

good one
edited November -1 in Park Slope
It's Sunday nite, around 8pm and I just got back from a walk along Prospect Park West, near Grand Army Plaza, and I found 3 bags of jewelry sitting on a park bench. Some costume, watches, rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, some gold, some that I would imagine has sentimental value to someone. Please PM me if you lost these bags or know someone who may have had them stolen. Describe one or two pieces and its yours. Otherwise, I will bring to the police and let them deal with it...

  • you should bring it to the police anyway.

good for you for trying to find the owner
  • yes, definitely.
  • If you bring it to the police, inventory it first, and keep a copy of the list.

Valuables have been known to disappear at police stations.
  • It may be the results of more than one robbery.
  • if possibly_maybe says "yes, definitely" you should probably listen

Thank you. Thats what I wanted to post is why give it to the cops to let them thief it for themselves.
  • at first i thought it was also a combination of robberies since there was sooo much stuff, but after careful inspection i think it's consistant with one person's taste. but since i'm not a psychiatrist...if someone does contact me with description of a few pieces that's fine with me... not looking for a reward, i believe in paying it forward!
i hear what you are saying about things disappearing with the police but i'm not inventoring anything since frankly i won't follow up with it once i give it to them...
I will hold on to it for the week (maybe someone returning from vacation this weekend will find that they've been robbed and will see this post or someone they know will have seen it)
  • Maybe check across the street at that senior/nursing home on the corner. I see the residents sitting on those benches and many seem to be the costume jewelry type.
