i didn't know this was the classifieds?
-
Well it is not the classified and I hope the moderators move this post.
Hey I am a master knitter and I sure would love to be paid minimum wage for this job! -
Oi vey. Why does everything on this board become over politicized? The authenticity of an ethnic cuisine... dogs... the size of strollers... bikes... now knitting?
The post you are reading is addressed to the "Park Slope" Knitting Circle, one of the oldest knitting circles in our area. In past posts I've listed volunteer opportunities and the like, so I thought I'd putting the word out there for a paid opportunity (actually, not min. wage) to work in the field to PSKC and Knit PH members before this hits the papers. This post is not limited to Park Slope or Prospect Heights members, these are just the groups that I know well.
If it concerns you that much, you can request for the mods to move it to classified. -
Yeah Yarn Monkey... It only concerns me because posting a job opportunity here and not in classified is against the rules and I guess you clearly knew that. . The fact that we discuss and berate and pound each other , discuss stroller intended homicide , biker kamakozies or whatever is not in the spirit of this forum either when the discussions get nasty and heated and indeed there are words against that too in the bylaws. Don't get your back up.. just admit that this posting needs to be in classified.
p.s. Glad it is not minimum wage because the kind of person you are looking for deserves way more than minimum wage. -

why was this not posted on Ravelry? Oh, because Lion Brand is well known for "gently lifting" the designs of independent designers.

Oh oh, the way this post is going, I can see the old "Soy Silk carbon footprint v. Polymer Fiber supporting corporate oil companies" debate rearing its beastly head again. God help us all.
-
Okay, okay, geez...
Moving this to classifieds. -
apollonia666, no problem...
But for shame, banished to the classified section.
 -

It's discussed on Ravelry quite a bit. I also have personal knowledge of knitwear designer friends having their patterns lifted by LB. -
i'll go over there and take a read, b/c i'm doing a project with them for the store
-
Yep, showing creative work is tricky. According to U.S. Federal copyright law, you can't trademark an idea, but you can copyright and patent a tangible plan (knit patterns, diagrams, illustrated flats).
I don't design knit stuff by trade, but I'm always cautious about posting WIPs on Ravelry or my blog. I get a lot of "How did you do that?" questions on Ravelry. A friend of mine worked as a designer at the Gap and the Limited. She advised me to be careful about leaving any samples.
But on a smaller more ridiculous note, a guest from MSL lifted some food ideas from my table over the course of a few parties. One of them being a roasted seckel pair and new potato gratin, they even used the same square pan. I felt as if some one had been through my kitchen drawers.
Hmm, should we move this topic back to the boards or will I banned as a shill of a "House and Home" service department. LOL. Kidding. -

Did you give them a contract to sign? If they make you sign an NDA, give them a Non-circumvent to sign that guarantees you as the sole consultant for this creative project.
You have nice work BTW. -
thank you, and i have an NDA with them that i drafted before i even went in for a meeting. non-circumvent? great idea!
-
I'm no IP lawyer, but I've had to learn the hard way, oi, so I'm glad to pass info along.
A "Non-circumvent Agreement" is a contract, much like an NDA, but it means that the signee (Lion Brand) works you (The Company) and can NOT work with another company with your plan. There are a few samples out on the web. Find one that applies to you. Along with this, create an attachment that thoroughly describes your plan in detail (concept, materials... etc.).
Howdy, Stranger!
