Does anyone remember 562 7th avenue? That building as well as 560 burned down and was eventually torn down. They were right next door to Joes auto glass. I used to live there in the 80's and im looking to get back in touch with old friends.

Fongoola - did this come through?
-
I see my "fongoola" came through but the other message did not. I at least can recognize some of the names now...
Terry and Deb - thanks for getting a step closer here. I was missing the
action to go to Brooklyn Back When, so I posted God knows where.
Yes, I know about Liz Joy's mom. She called and left me a message at home in NJ, and I called her last night and talked a long time. Sorry I
am out of town and can't pay my respects.
No more writing till I know I'm getting through to the right neighborhood.
Ciao,

Yes it burned down it 87 or 88 I believe. That building and the one on the corner. They sat vacant for years until not too long ago new buildings were stood up.
Now, to make sure im not confused, did Joe have a brother named Danny and have a bulldog?
-
We lived in that building and were friends with the lady next door. Everyone called her Aunt Chrissy. She was a very large woman and a really nice lady. She passed away reight before the fire. We then moved to the building next door (560) and lived in the storefront for a while. Growing up we didnt have much money at all. Being that no one was hurt at all in the fire, I can say it was the best thing that ever happened to my family. We moved to Virginia and lived with my uncle and really got our act together.

Happy Friday all! If this site wasn't so hard to find I'd probably be on it more often! Just checking in. I still think we need to use the facebook thread - it's much easier to use. Terry - did Margaret call you? She mentioned something about dropping the money off to you? Have a good weekend and stay dry tomorrow.

Ok. The reason im asking is because there were 3 brothers who lived accross the hall from Mary named Mackey

They also had a Joe, Steve, and Dan. Mary used to sit by the window and yell at us when we were up to no good. I miss her. She was a really nice lady. Sad that she passed

Hey guys..........when I first came on this site, I added it to my favorites and now it is much easier to get on. Hope this helps anyone having a problem.

Terry, Hi, I did not read the post where anyone was looking for Mongo. About 8 weeks ago, I saw Little Vinny Franzone(?) from 26 Street and he is bet friends with Mongo. He told me Mongo is married and crazy happy. Vinny called Mongo and Mongo sang to me over the phone. Did you kow he sounds just like Elvis when he sings. Mongo was a riot and I think the nicest guy from the 23 street park!
If you don't get in touch with him again, I am sure I can.
Have a great weekend everyone!

HI ALL ARE WE READY FOR A WET SATURDAY :?: STAY DRY -
hi where is everybody? am i the only one home on this friday night? lol

How are doing Patsy ? I am sitting here in front of the computer trying to decide what to do myself (not that I have nothing to do.....just trying to make a mental list and choose). For a while, I was studying Chinese but in recent months found myself without time to do it.....so this wet weekend might be a good time to start again.
Hope you find something interesting to do tonight besides this blog. Most people think that the summer is over, however, for me the summer has always extended almost into November. I have always swam in the ocean through October and the year I worked at a lab in Montauk, I learned that out there, summer ends with the Columbus Day parade.
I am just enjoying being here in New York and relaxing. What are your favorite things to do at this time of the year on a weekend ?
Back in the mid 1980s, I sat on the Coney Island sand with Michael Conroy and we talked about traveling and how neither one of us had a great urge to do it. We both loved the water and he thought the best beaches in the world were in the north east of the US. Since 1993, I have done lots of traveling in China, India, other parts of Asia and Europe. Coming full circle now and happy to be here in New York as much as possible. And I agree with Michael ("Lefty") Conroy that we have the best beaches in the world.
I just might drag a kayak down to the bay tomorrow and wait for the effects of the hurricane to hit. As long as it isn't full force winds, it can be fun riding the big swells.
Howdy, Stranger!
