Could be trouble for Pollio (who already have losses thanks to Brooklyn Bread).

  • great news! Nice to find a landlord who cares about keeping neighborhood stores in business.
  • That is great news. the location is a little closer to my house so I am more likely to shop there. Bad news for Pollio. At the original location Pollio was a store we shopped in alot but where they are now just doesn't have the appeal for me and the prices are really high. I usta go in and get a little container of this and that for lunch but those this and thats added up to a lot of money.
  • Pollio is overpriced. I can get the same bird from Los Pollitos or Carneviento for much cheaper.
  • Wrong Pollio Mamacita...we're talking about the Italian grocery store/deli...not the Peruvian chicken place.

Pollio does make a mean Peter Luger sandwich that is about $8...fresh homemade roast beef, mozz, lettuce, and slathered in Luger steak sauce. Damn fine.
  • Whoops.... just ignore the crazy lady then

(But that sandwich does sound awesome)
  • Pollio is far enough away from the new A&S Store that i don't see how it will hurt them at all. Also, A&S is primarily a butcher shop-where Pollio is primarily a deli/prepared food store. though, it does seem like the new A&S store will have more prepared foods.

Veets, i was going to send you a PM, I know you went to Pollio once and thought the new prices were too high-but, I really think something was wrong there.

i went today and got the following for $25.72:

1 large container of rigatoni with marinara sauce (one of those large metal containers)

    1 lb. fried shrimp

1 lb. container of string beans sauteed with onions and garlic

    1/2 roasted chicken

1 can of soda and some italian bread
  • Pollio was famous in the neighborhood for one dandwich they made and probably still do... The Special... a combination of all the deli meats and cheese with an oil and vinegar dressing (including lots of organo).

Hey Sloper.. I should try this place again. It has been off the list for at least 2 years.

Pollio's always had some fresh meats.... good sausages, especially.,
