Here is another one:

The New York Urban League Young Professionals is having a walking tour of Crown Heights on Saturday, September 13th. The tour will begin at 10:45 am at the intersection of Fulton Street and Utica Avenue. For those of you who are new to the area, Crown Heights is the neighborhood just south of Bed-Stuy. For more information or to RSVP please email [email protected]. -
Just curious -- can cooperative buildings be featured on the tour? I am assuming that it is too late for this time around, but just want to know for future reference.
My co-op, 960 Sterling Place, is in the midst of substantial restoration/renovation to our common areas including our lobby. The building was built in 1939 and according to the interior designer who is helping us with our restoration, our lobby has an ecclectic hodge podge of design styles -- art deco, classic and americana. We have our contractors doing a lot of detail work and it would be nice to "show off" a bit.
If anyone has any info, please let me know. -
I think that the house tour committee would consider it as long as there was an okay from the board if participants would need to go through common areas.
I know there was a desire to show more diversity in housing stock including some of the fantastic apartment building lobbies, in addition to brownstones, limestones, and victorians in the neighborhood.
Usually the members of the committee reach out to homeowners through their own network of personal contacts (block associations, community organizations, etc), but I know that they are always looking for new homeowners that are interested in participating.
You can reach out to them directly through Crown Heights North Association.
