Where to find the Red Hook taco truck vendors now

Now that the ball fields are over for the season (unless I'm mistaken the last taco truck day was Labor day) - does anyone know if there is another location any of those trucks ever set up? Or a restaurant any of those companies also run?

I'm craving huaraches and last time I went to Tacos Nuevos they served me a glass full of sanitizer instead of water. So I won't be going back there. Also not feeling like making the trek to Queens . . . :?

  • I too would love an off-season huarache (sans sanitizer).
  • Looks like some of them set up at Brooklyn Flea. I'm not sure if that is year round or not, but It looks like it is at least going through mid December.

Also scroll towards the bottom for a tasty-sounding place serving them in the city:

  • Last year they went well into the fall. I think they're still there.

I wish but I don't think so. This was on Gowanus Lounge from Labor Day weekend:
"The Food vendors have decided to extend their operation through Labor Day Monday, Sept 1st"

Or do you think they just meant to say through a Monday when they would otherwise not be there? Has anyone been since? Someone give me hope for huarache!
  • They're out through October. They were there last wknd and perhaps there will be a later conclusion this year due to their late start + expense of the trucks.
  • I went on a wild huarache search last year in the Sunset Park area (fifth ave and the 50's, 60's) and never found anything as good as the Red Hook vendors. Recently, I saw that Tacos Nuevos Mexico on 5th and 11(?) has huaraches on the menu but I don't know if they are any good (read: homemade tortillas).

I had a really bad TNM experience where I was served a glass of sanitizer instead of water. But the b/f got huarache from there delivered this weekend regardless. I didn't try it but he said it was good, although I'm sure not nearly as good as the vendors. I always find the meat at TNM to be really tough and chewy.
  • They were just there in Red Hook yesterday, at least 8 of them.
  • Oh man you guys. I went last weekend. Corn & Huarache. It was glorious. Going back this weekend.
