cat died, have left-over meds and supplies — Brooklynian

cat died, have left-over meds and supplies

i'm seeking suggestions as to what to do with the following things. i would like to donate the prescription meds to organizations that can use them for cats, or, with vet approval, to individual needy owners. the supplements and other supplies i will give to anyone who needs them. my vet has said they will take the meds, but they don't necessarily have clients who will be able to use them right now...

pills for lymphoma:
leukeran
prednisolone

OTC supplements:
epakitin (phosphorous binder for kidney disease)
denamarin (liver supplement)
dermcaps (oil)

other stuff:
vetropolycin (eye ointment)
orbax (antibiotic)
nutri-stat gel (high cal food supplement)
avoderm (grooming spray)
tushee wipe quick bath - pre-moistened pet wipes
fancy feast wet food, grilled w/ gravy varieties only

:(

  • sorry to hear about your kitty. Good on you for donating this stuff (I don't really need any though)
  • I'm sorry for your kitty. Would any of the rescues be able to use them?
  • Sorry for your loss.
  • I'm very sorry for your loss
  • crowhillkitty, my deepest sympathies for your lost.
  • crowhill, I'm so sorry about your kitty. It's wonderful that you want to donate the meds and stuff though, you could try Kensington Kitties at 347-414-5066. Jenny and Marlene know a few other rescues so if they can't use something it won't go to waste. It's very kind of you to think of helping other cats in a time of sadness. *hugs*
  • I'm so sorry for you and your kitty. Losing a pet is like losing a family member.

My boyfriend and I are going to adopt a cat or kitten likely this week. We would love whatever supplies you have (I am a grad student so it's tough going sometimes). Anyhow, you can reach me here. Also would love tips from anyone about where to go for this new addition to our home (animal shelter? ASPCA?)

Hadley13, there are a bunch of wonderful cats and kittens up for adoption right here on the pets board - do check them out!

My sympathies to the OP. Just from seeing the list of stuff you're giving away it looks like you really did a lot to take care of your kitty during its illness - I'm glad it had an owner who was so loving and attentive, and so many animals don't have owners to look out for them with such care. I hope you can take a little comfort in that.
  • my friends run a fledgling group called Empty Cages Collective, they work mostly with feral cats, but are always in need of meds and such. I know they currently have an old timer who has cancer and might be able to benefit from some of this stuff.

And if people are looking for cats, ECC has tons, mostly little kittens who although born in the streets, are mostly tame now and ever-so-cute.

CHK, thanks so much for trying to help other cats, it's gotta be tough to deal with losing your friend, your list of supplies is both a little sad but also somehow heartwarming :)
