Dear Soda Bar,

We love you very much, but please for the love of cider, no more "Nights Over Egypt"! Surprise us. Or ask your Wednesday night DH regulars to supply you with a new playlist. We'd be happy to oblige.

Hugs and kisses,
DH Regulars

P.S. Mmmm onion rings.
P.P.S. Thanks for nixing the videos on the big screen.

  • Yes, dear lord. What happened - I feel like the the music selections on the jukebox were much better when Soda first opened.

BTW - there were definitely videos running on the bigscreen when I was there Saturday night. Everyone in that end of the room was zoning out and staring at the screen instead of talking to each other. Seems like it might make more sense to put additional seating in that area instead of reserving it for random images flashing on the wall.

Stop the crazy talk! "Nights Over Egypt" is a great song!

They just need to put that "jukebox" a.k.a. the not so hidden mp3 player on shuffle or something. That playlist is played out.

  • Yeah, I was there last night and the soundtrack sounded like bad jazz-porn mixed with Rocky. Jesus, if I wanted crappy music I'd head to Tea Lounge.

You were there and didn't join the happy hour festivities?!

  • My ability to make small talk was severely hampered by a bad case of being a tired asshole. But I was wearing my festive Polish fish-gutting hat!

I saw JoshB and all I got was a stool!
  • It had dog poop on it.
  • so, wait, they don't actually let people play music on the jukebox anymore? i've stopped going to soda because the music was so oppressively loud (and bad) and even sitting in front of the jukebox i couldn't manage to steer people away from it.
  • There's a jukebox?
  • bewitched wrote: There's a jukebox?
In the front part where the bar itself is. We're complaining about music in the back room.
  • ah, i see. so: as oppressively loud as the front?
  • JoshB wrote: Yeah, I was there last night and the soundtrack sounded like bad jazz-porn mixed with Rocky. Jesus, if I wanted crappy music I'd head to Tea Lounge.
speaking of this, i was in the tea lounge last weekish, and they were playing a homemade red hot chili peppers greatest hits mix. i wanted to beat myself over the head with a high-school aged theater student.

No, it's pretty quiet -- hence why we like it for gatherings.
  • okay, quiet but bad. got it. pierogies, here i come!
  • crustythor wrote: okay, quiet but bad. got it. pierogies, here i come!
It's not bad per se. Just needs to be shaken up a bit. If it wasn't for that playlist, I would've never identified "Rock Co. Cane Flow." That song's been driving me nuts for years!
  • you guys need to tell them to have me back to spin more often. everyone loved the new variety and actually danced the last time i ws tehre, heh. im having a hard time getting scheduled more often due to the reigning contingent of the same-setlist-playing folks. 8)

oh wait, tell the bartenders/owner youd like to hear Peter spin again. as thats the name they know me by

i could spin there every day for a year and never play the same song twice.

I think that gets you at least a couple of points on the hipster survey.
