Roommate Needed fir Great 2BR Garden Apartment
Hi,
On September 15th I'll be moving into a 2br private garden apartment in that little nook between Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy...So I'll give you a little overview of the neighborhood and such. The place is nine blocks from the Pratt Institute, which is about a 10 minute walk or a 2min ride on the B54 bus. It's between the Myrtle-Willoughby (3 blocks) and Bedford-Nostrand (4 blocks) stops on the G train. It's about a 10-20min ride from Manhattan, 10 min walk to the beautiful neighborhood of Fort Greene, a 5 minute subway ride to the 'Burg and all things hipster, and 10 minutes in the opposite direction to the Carroll Gardens stop.
About Me:
I've lived in Brooklyn, i.e. Williamsburg, for a few years now, and honestly I have no intention on moving back to Manhattan. I'm soon to be 24 y.o. philosopher of life and probably one of the best roommates you could have...I have a deep sense of human consideration, that I've discovered over the years, a lot of people just don't possess. I work in midtown, I'm an analyst for an online marketing company and I also work at the Brooklyn Museum on the weekends....
I'm a art/literature/music/dance addict and up for anything that's visually, existentially, philosophically, emotionally, artistically, musically, etc. enriching. I'm a former trackie so I volunteer throughout the year for the NYRR (New York Road Runners), the last event of the year being the ING Marathon. I don't smoke or drink, but I don't have a problem with anyone else doing it just as long a there isn't a party going on all the time. I'm pretty laid back, I handle stress very well but prefer to keep unnecessary stress and drama out of my life, and I know and fully willing admit that I'm one of the biggest dorks in the world, e.g. I will probably be at the Brooklyn Book Festival allllll day on Sunday. I don't cook as often as I'd like, but with the awesome kitchen I'm looking forward honing my skills. I'm a veggie, again, it doesn't if you eat meat...
The Apartment: This apartment is currently the owner/landlord's apartment. She's getting older and her son no longer lives with her so she's moving to a smaller apartment in the building. I mention this because the broker put emphasis on this fact before he showed it to me. Everything in the apartment is how she wanted it built, so everything is larger than most New York apartments--this place is about 2.5x larger than my current place with less rent....
2 bedroom apt
Large Kitchen 16'x12'
Large Living Room 15'x14'
Large Bathroom
Private Garden (with the exception of the landlord): I'm already planning what flowers I'll plant in the spring.
Details:
The available room is about 9'x11', it has a window that looks out into the backyard. The only down side to this room is the fact that there isn't a closet, however there is a large closet in the living room that you could use. I don't smoke at all, so would prefer that if you did so that you keep it to the garden. Also, I've been subletting for the past 2 years, because I was traveling, so I sold all of my living area furniture--I didn't want to put so much in storage. So right now I don't have any living room/dining room furniture. I plan on getting that in October some time.
Rent:
The rent is $800 including utilities. It's due on the 15th, and I'd need first and last to move in. Currently, the landlord is moving out and then will have it painted/fix things that I pointed out. I'm showing the apartment on Monday evening from 6 to 9, mainly because I'll be out of town for most of the weekend.
Like I said, based on your brief but to the point posting, you seem fairly cool. But I'd like to get some more info about you, e.g. Facebook/MySpace page, blog, etc., and I just have a few questions...
