Brooklyn Trader Joe's?

While we're at it, what happened to Whole Foods opening on 3rd and 3rd? no longer happening? They don't even list anything on their site any longer.
-
Excellent! Now, how about Whole foods?
-
the whole foods is listed under the "stores in development" section of the site. Do a brownstoner search...insight comes up pretty frequently on there.
-
Last I read in the newspaper is that Whole Foods is suffering because of the economy and they have cancelled opening some new stores...I have a feeling that the one on 3rd & 3rd is no more....Don't know that for a fact but I don't think any work has been done on it.
-
Remediation ain't cheap, quick, or easy. I'd expect this would be one of the stores that WF would shutter for the time being. Maybe when the Great Depression of 2008 has lifted we can look for some new information.

I have no use for trader joe's now that I hear that the wine store isn't going to be attached.
-
Wine store or not-Trader Joe's is great! Anyway, NYC laws will only allow them to have the one wine store attached to the Union Square market.
Anyway, I have tried quite a few of the TJ's wines and found them horrible. -
I am far too excited. I think I will be there at 9am, but it's going to be a mad-house! Also, TJ's wine is really great for the price. Also, not just the TJ brand... try the other wines they sell for drastically less price than competitors.

the Whole Foods site is still considered a hazmat site. They have applied for, but not received, permits to build. Many in the neighborhood are angry because they have let the site, and the landmarked building on it, fall into a state of disrepair.
Gowanus Lounge is a good source for all things Whole Foods. In the meantime, Fairway is much cheaper, as well as being a local business. -

I will continue to go to Wholesale Wines and Liqueurs on Broadway and Astor Pl. MUCH better selection than TJs very knowledgeable staff and price seem to be the same or better than TJs -
I find Trader Joe's food to be packaged adorably and while they do offer some great options I don't see why I would ever want to pay $17.99 for a turkey breast with cranberries in it that only serves two...
Hmmm...
Guess I will keep shuffling to Pathmark and Met food near my mom's. -
whoa, that price is really high. i don't buy much TJs stuff here, but i used to, and that price strikes me as well out of the norm of them.
still, i see less need for TJs in NYC, since so many of the specialty goods i liked them for are available all over the place here. tough life.
if i were only cooking for myself, though, i'd live there. -
I find their prices for organic foods to be way more reasonable than any of the specialty stores around. I shop there for a family of four and spend was less than I would at any market and that includes buying some meats there.

I'm not racing to spend $7 on 1 cup of healthy organic spinach when COBRA health coverage costs $500 a month. After my co-pay, all I can afford is a Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese value meal. -

YES, I did score some great Organic squash and shataki mushrooms for a really great price but the Trader Joe's organic cookies with dried cranberries were no bargain.
Again what is TJ'S obsession with dried cranberries they are in everything there. -
i've never bought the Charles Shaw wines. like an awful lot of vintners, they subcontract out the grape growing and picking...a farmworker died of heatstroke picking Chuck grapes this summer because the contractors refuse to comply with California regs saying that workers must be provided basic things like cold water, shade, and bathrooms. that's in addition to i think 6 other farmworker heatstroke deaths this summer. california wine fans, take note.
