Can I Learn to Ride a Bike At My Age?

Find a nice empty school park (without too many playgrounds/benches), put on a helmet and protective gear, get someone to steady you at first, and then just go for it. You might crash into the gates a few times, but eventually you'll get it.

Thanks daver. I had a bad fall as a child and may need professional assistance. I found the words wrench, confidence, steer, and balance a little unnerving. I was looking more for a bike riding class for adults.

Wow! I wouldn't have thought that such a thing existed, but hey, pretty cool. Good luck! -

As long as you don't have some kind of inner ear problem that causes balance issues, there is no reason why you can't learn to ride a bicycle. If you have an inner ear issue, try a tricycle.

Good Luck Queen Lady Lafayette! Hope to see you on a midnight bike ride soon!

My daughter didn't learn until she was 15. Now she's riding 3-day bike-a-thons. Why not you, too? I like the bike new york technique; it looks like it would work.

Speaking of the midnight bike ride, any coming up, possibly on a non-Friday night?
Good luck Queen Lady Lafayette. I recommend the Bike New York program. Though I have never attended that class, I've done some of their rides and they have always been great. -
My ex-boyfriend bought me one of these to learn to ride on:

I am still scared shitless biking through Brooklyn but it is very sturdy

You really need to have one of these on there:

Safe, stylish, and cheap: buy here. I personally find the red more visible, but if you want to match your bike, then here is a blue one, which isn't much more. -

When I was collecting my bike from its "tune up" yesterday I noticed a flyer for a guy who specifically teaches adults to ride bikes. I have no idea what he's like/cost etc etc but his info is:
I never succeeded at learning how to ride a bike as a little girl and I've always wanted to learn. Can anyone direct me on how an adult can learn how to ride? I'm not ashamed of learning with children (sike-yes, I am) but I figured I'd ask around first.
Thanks!

Nobody ever taught me how to ride a bike. I had to teach myself.

My mama and dada don't know how to ride bikes.
We live in a corner house. So I use to put the bike up against the fence and then climb on it.
I'd have one hand on the handle bar and the other hand holding on to the top of the fence.
Then I used to push myself away from the fence and then start pedaling.I fell a whole damn lot.
Go -BAM! Go go -BAM! Go go go -BAM! Go go go go go YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
That's how I learned how to ride a bike. No training wheels , people.

Start out riding on grass instead of concrete. It's easier and doesn't hurt as much when you fall. Also, a shorter bike where you can put your feet on the ground is better to start with.
I learned as an adult and it's just something to jump into and not be scared!
