  • Hey, any more recent updates on UT and the surrounding area? I am hoping to move in there in the next couple of months and everytime I visited the building (once in the late afternoon, once at 10pm), the neighborhood seemed totally safe. There was a slight feeling of isolation because of its in-between location, so I don't know what to make of it. I see these posts are all from '06 so I'm wondering what people's thoughts are nowadays?
  • How ironic. I have not been on the site for a while. I did move into UT about 2 years ago.
It is a very pleasant place to live. The fear of 2006 has past and I believe the nabe is on the move.
The Toren (new building) next door is going up quickly and the area has good vibes.
There are still no grocery stores that are great nearby... Pathmark at Atlantic Mall is within walking distance.
Depending on your needs transportation from this nabe is excellent.
    Hope to see you!
  • I lived in University Towers years ago and I thought it was a nice building to live in. Very convenient and I did not have many issues with shopping or the basic amenities in the area, since I was driving at that time and basically shopped at Pathmark. The neighborhood was still rough around the edges but it has changed considerably over the years. My biggest and only gripe about the apartment was my next door neighbors but that is another story. All in all, a nice complex to live in and the management company is very good with maintaining the apartments.
  • I moved into Kingsview Towers across the street in Feb 07 and really like the neighborhood. The people in my building are great and very friendly. Plus, the building going up at Ashland and Myrtle is going to house a grocery store (from what I understand). Welcome to the neighborhood.
  • Thanks for your opinions, drkman and freddyg. Good to hear about the grocery store since the only one nearby appears to have closed recently. Too bad they're probably going to block my view... ;)
