Park pl. btw Classon Franklin — Brooklynian

Park pl. btw Classon Franklin

Saw an ad for an apartment on this block and I thought I'd check with y'all to see if it's a good place to live.

Whatcha think?

  • if its in the jewish hospital, beware of bed bugs.
  • that's not the jewish hospital, but it is generally considered crown heights, so i'm moving this to the CH board.
  • Claussen, isn't that where they make the pickles?

It's a good place, but the _real_ question, of course, is whether your friends will think it is "cool" enough or not. 'Cause if they don't, of course, you might as well just live in Queens!

Anyway, yah, that is next to the 'S' shuttle stop, pretty close to the express Franklin stop where you can get 2/3/4/5, and not terribly far from A/C. Close to GAP, Prospect Park, lots of restaurants and _stuff_. I would definitely give it a thumbs up.
  • Mod note: I'm going to correct the spelling of Classon in the title of this thread, mainly to make it come up in future searches people may make on the site.

Unless he's only planning on living there between sunset Friday night and sunset Saturday night.
  • i live on that block and love it. it is crown heights, technically, but it is such a short walk to prospect heights and park slope and fort greene that there is always a ton to do.

AND we're 3 blocks from Franklin Park (great bar), 3 blocks from 95 South (a louder bar at times, but still good), 2 blocks from Bristen's Eatery (decent food and coffee place with a really crowded brunch), 2 blocks from Lily and Fig (opens on the 20th I believe - tea and baked goods), across the street from Homage (great burger bar), 1 block from Bombay (good Indian food), and 1 block from A Slice of Brooklyn (decent pizza and Italian place)

that said, it's a nice block ... fairly quiet, right on the S if it's raining/cold and you don't want to walk to the another train station, and it's a lot of kids playing outside and stuff.

    i really like it. welcome!
  • also, the jewish hospital was on prospect i thought.
  • I just rode by there yesterday, and there's paper in the window. they haven't opened yet? don't they have another store somewhere else, too?

2 blocks from Lily and Fig (opens on the 20th I believe - tea and baked goods),
  • sorry, where is lily and fig?
  • it's franklin ave just south of park pl ... but they still haven't opened. not sure when it will be. it's been months of their cute sign taunting me every day to and from work.
  • Lived six years on this block. Can be noisy as a mofo come summer—and I live near the perpetually bombastic weekend-party courtyard near Classon—but the kids hanging on the block are generally good-natured. There's a recent influx of stroller pushers, and the shuttle 'tis nice when it's raining.
