    Yes, agreed.

The bug _clearly_ makes its nest in Bed-Stuy.

  • I think I am going to be sick...

Can you get Ebola from a bug?
  • I don't know but I want to figure out what it is. I saw a few small spiders in my room recently but some of those photos on that link I just shared looked like a spider can eat away at your flesh!
  • OMG- I am SO off this thread. Your pics are grossing me out. Later.
  • Geez last time I ask for help on this forum.
  • HAHA! I refuse to click that link. too close to lunch time.

I was kidding about the lime disease! Yeah, it's a spider bite. Don't worry put some cortizone on it. You'll be fine.
  • I recommend you see a doctor. There was a story on Dr G last Friday night about a couple that had what they thought was a spider bite, but it turned out to be MRSA - she got better, he didn't.
  • Weirdly i went in to the doctor yesterday after feeling super woozy, swollen throat and glans, like I had strep but maybe it was a spider bite after all or something worse. I'm calling the doctor thanks.
  • Those pictures are so frickin cool. If it's any comfort I don't think brown recluses live in urban areas.

They don't live around NY at all, do they? I thought they was a southern thang. Friend of a friend died of a spider bite in Staten Island last week. Reportedly. I don't know what kind of spider it was though.

They do in urban areas in the south, but their range doesn't extend up to New York.

The symptoms you described are all associated with an immune response to the toxin from the bug. It could have gotten much worse and stopped your breathing. Lucky for you, your immune system did not over react.

In a case like this you would have gotten a shot of adrenaline at the ER. Next time something like this happens DO NOT WAIT TILL THE SWELLING GOES DOWN.....GO RIGHT TO THE ER!!!!
  • It's LYME Disease doctors, not lime. Lime disease is a bad margarita.
