  • I'm scared to watch it. I really hate Palin, I many throw a beer at the tv.
  • It will be hilarious!! C'mon!

Word! I'm watching a recap of Couric's interview with her right now and it's making me nauseous. She just asked Palin if she believes abortion should be illegal for a 15 year old girl who is raped by her father... of course Palin avoided the question and then finally said she would counsel the young woman to choose life.

I am so irate I can't see straight.

And now she's talking about teaching evolution as a "theory". GAG. Now she just said homosexuality is a choice.

I think I'm going to have to watch the debate at home because no reputable establishment would allow me to remain a patron after the tirade of vulgarities that is sure to escape my lips.
  • I am watching the interview now. What a mess! A mess! Thursday is so exciting! I would love to watch it while having a drink and sharing my disgust and laughter with others.
  • Oh, I've got wine and am prepped to scream at the TV too
  • My friend is having a VP Debate party, complete with lots and lots of booze...
  • Bar 4 is having a VP debate watching party. (444 Seventh Ave at 15th Street)

I'm gonna watch at home so I can hear it all, rewind when I want, and curse up a storm.
  • Be sure to print out some Sarah Palin Bingo Cards:

  • Every time I think I can listen to her speak without getting irrationally upset I go and disprove that theory.
  • I don't care how many flash cards they put in front of her, or how well she debated during the Alaskan governor's debate......this is a completely different universe. If she can't answer "what newspaper do you read" without completely fumbling, she's got zero shot of responding, on the fly, to any of what Joe Biden has to say. This is going to be SOMETHING tomorrow, let me tell you.

Oh wow, I had forgotten about the newspaper/magazine question she couldn't answer! That's a good one. I mean, she couldn't at least blurt out The Times or The Trib? This is not rocket surgery.

The image I have in my head of Palin in an OR (complete with scrubs and nurses, duh) with a small nuclear arm on the operating table is making it hilariously difficult for me to work right now... Thank you!
  • I'm gonna do my best NOT to throw a forty at the TV. I couldn't even watch 5 minutes of her speaking at the RNC. I had to shut the TV off and go for a bike ride to regain my senses. Thursday is going to be interesting to say the least...

Hey, I do what I can.

When she spoke at the RNC I had to turn the TV off because I felt sick, but I turned on NPR because I thought I could handle her clothespin-on-the-nose voice as long as I didn't have to look at her this-is-all-an-inside-joke face... but nope, that made me ill, too. Had to go outside and look at the moon to calm myself down.
  • Subject: Palin/McCain supporters are having a viewing party

I heard they are meeting at Blue Ribbon. I only read this but it didnt sound like a joke
  • oops the above post was supposed to say "Park Slopers for McCain/Palin" Sorry
  • apparantly, the debate format is one that doesn't allow for as much back-and-forth as we saw in the first Obama/McCain debate, which does save Palin somewhat from having to formulate a reply to something Biden says that winds up being more than unrelated words strung together.

still, she can't possibly make it out of this thing looking good, can she?
  • Fox and the like will try to spin it such that if she manages to make it through the entire debate without making a complete fool of herself by saying something really retarded, she'll have "won" since expectations are now so low.
  • Any parties? I'd love to go. We could have a Sarah Palin drinking game. Please let me know!!!! Off to checky mybarackobama.org.
  • I. Can't. F-ing. WAIT !! for tonight. So this is what I know of so far-

VP debate watching parties in Park Slope:

    1. Pacific Standard ( 4th Ave / Pacific St) - drink specials
    2. Union Hall (Union/ 5th Ave) - drink specials
    3. Bar 4 ( 7th Ave/ 15th St)
Also, there's stuff organized throughout the city by Drinking Liberally- just check their website

If anyone knows of any BYOB house parties that are - :) open to their Park Slope neighbors sort of thing - please post here.

Personally, I vote for Union Hall, cuz it's close to Blue Ribbon - the alleged headquarters of the McCain camp - and i wanna see their faces when Palin gets steamrolled tonight.

Theyll be at the table for 2 in the corner
  • Again, Bar Reis will show it.... two flat screen at the bar.. and a huge wide screen HD TV downstairs.

Does Union Hall even have TV's? Honestly I get a little nauseous when I go there.. perhaps it is that not so subtle blend of vintage frat boy, aging hipster, desperation that stinks up the place. So not chill.

Plus my bike seat was stolen from my bike as it was locked up on the racks there at like 11pm on a Friday.
  • Pacific Standard is showing the debates and they have an enormous projection screen and a few flat screens. They'll also have beer specials.
  • I think Union Hall is going to have it on a projector.
  • Had a great time watching the last debate at Bar Reis (except for some douchebag who kept talking on his cell phone- either fighting with his girl or his mommy- or both)
  • i think that was drunken revival
  • Young and modern,

I know you are new here but keep the personal attacks to yourself - the board does have rules..

While I may have been at Bar Reis during the debate (and I will be there tonight) it certainly was NOT me talking on my cell phone.

My "girl" is not my "mommy"... we do not get freaky quite like that.

As a fun side note: Anyone who goes to Bar Reis and and can correctly identify me as Drunken Revival will get two, count'em two, free drinks on me...

Since I know many of you won't want to get in my face may I suggest a hand signal.. just give me (or some unknowing stranger) two thumbs up.. you'll either get a funny look or two, count'em two, FREE drinks...

Good luck with that, you'll need a police report number or else violations are considered not serious and rules unenforceable. FYI.

    Just so's ya know.
  • Man I don't want to go all the way to bar reis for a free drink, I'm lazy after work.

My question is, so Drunken, your married with kids. Is the wife a cool lady that tosses em back with you? Or are you the type of husband that stops for a fast few at the bar before heading home to face the wife?
  • That's why I promised two, count'em two, free drinks..

Disclaimer: offer is limited subject to my buzz and general feeling of generosity
