  • Subject: Other shoe: DROPPED

Well, that was the one we were all waiting for.

    Pack your bags, Dan. :)
  • This is really unbelievable. What's going on with this country? I feel like it's being systematically destroyed inch by inch by our own government.
  • pretty much yup. i'm taking all suggestions regarding what other countries i can move to and live/work in.
  • here we go...can it get much worse...one year till we see a wal-mart...smack dab in the middle of PH
  • "Writing for the court, Justice John Paul Stevens said local officials, not federal judges, know best in deciding whether a development project will benefit the community"

AKA Marty Markowitz the biggest sellout in Brooklyn, he'll sell your home to the highest bidder for 2 hot dogs and a cream soda.
  • Notice is was the more liberal justices who voted in favor not the more conservative justices. Somehow George Bush will be blamed for this. HAHAHA.

eewh! i'm terrified that you are my neighbor.
  • Subject: Truth hurts huh neighbor..........

Your terrified by my statement. HAHAHA. Liberals were letdown by there own. So who are you going to blame for the latest set back. Don't be terrified by me my conservatism, it won't hurt you, Liberalism will though.

You have bigger issues than liberals
  • If you read the news report "start the development" is right it was the more liberal judges on the Supreme Court who ruled in the majority -- Ruth Bader Ginsburg, John Paul Stevens, Stephen Breyer, Anthony Kennedy and David Souter.
  • Subject: chill out

read the decision. read the commentary.
there are serious legal challenges to Ratner based on today's decision.

    take a breath.
  • Believe me I don't have issues. Just smiling at the facts of who voted which way. Your JUSTICES let you down. So when Ratnerville is developed, remeber who voted which way. But I am sure you will be forgiving to the beloved liberals. If it was the other way around with the conservative justices voting in favor there would be a firestorm by the left. Right now the backlash is moderate because your own sold you out.
  • Subject: knock, knock neighbor...

#1 they are not my justices.
#2 it is your conservatism that is killing our children, our parents, our wives, and our husbands unnecissarily in Iraq, it is your conservatism that keeps me from walking down the street holding my girlfriend's hand for fear of assault, it is your conservatism that denies me the chance to visit my loved one in the hospital, it is your conservatism that denies our children a free education, it is your conservatism that denies each individual access to healthcare...etc.

who am i too blame...people like you who greedily hold their money in one hand and their d_ck in the other.
  • Please explain how conservatism keeps your streets unsafe. If I remeber correctly the city of new york was a horror show till a conservative came into being mayor. How does conservatism keep you from visting loved ones ina hosptial? Were do you come up these absurd thoughts. You said I need help. HAHA You surely need the help. You have a warped mind. We have free education its called the board of education that has failed miserabley due to unions and buearocrats. We have health care system in many different means to obtain. Pay your own share, work in a union or receive as a job benefit and medicaid for the downtrodden. This is America the land of freedom with unlimited potential for success. Not socialism or communism. That is called capitalism, freedom for you to do for yourself and not for your country to do for you. Stand up on your own two feet and make do for yourself. You have all the opportunity in this country to get where you want. It is called ambition and desire.
  • [quote=" It is called ambition and desire.

tell that to the 40 million working americans who can not pay the high cost premiums, who don't work for corporate america, but many who work for themselves... the real american dream...

ps...i'm gay... that's why i fear walking the streets at night and that's why i can not visit my loved ones...

WOW, are you really that slow? *boggles* Obviously, the guest poster is gay.

    As your writing amply attests.
Stand up on your own two feet and make do for yourself. You have all the opportunity in this country to get where you want. It is called ambition and desire.
And, once you have done for yourself, have your gains sold against your will to other successful people who just happen to be the cronies of elected officials. The new American Dream--thanks for laying it all out for us.
  • You're all a bunch of liberal    s. Except for the rest of you, who are clearly a bunch of conservative    s. Go take a flying leap and    yourselves.
  • Start the development wrote: I remeber correctly the city of new york was a horror show till a conservative came into being mayor.
really, you think it had nothing to do with the economy? The mayor made all those jobs suddenly appear from his conservative ass? That had nothing to do with the mayor......but maybe the president.
  • Captain Marvelous wrote: The mayor made all those jobs suddenly appear from his conservative ass?
have you seen guiliani's ass???? he didn't have prostate cancer for now reason...you could drive a semi up there...heehee!
    (couldn't help myself)

Actually I"M responsible for all the jobs and the boost in the economy. What can I say? I was feeling generous that day. Feel free to show your thanks with cash. Flowers and home-cooked meals work too. 8)
  • daveb...that must be the reason you were mugged...crime solved...ultimately you should thank mr. conservatism for that.

Well, I will give Clinton his due with the 5 year term limit on welfare. But you are fooling yourself if Guiliani did not turn this city around. If you can't give credit were cridet is due then no reason to continue with a closed minded individual.

I am a self employed individual myself. I know what it exactly cost for medical insurance and every other essential necessary for life. Postive thinking creates positive results. Get out of the pity pot and produce for yourself. That is the American way. How do you think our grandparents succeeded.

I respect your private life, its your choice to be what and who you want to be with. But, I bet most gay bashing (physical violence) is not conservatives, but hoodlum morons who surely are not into politics. to blame conservatives is ridiculous. conservatives are against gays out of religious belief. Thats there right to to there own beliefs. While I don't agree with them on this specific topic.
  • I will probably be affected by the Ranterville more then most since my block and building have been spared the wrecking ball. I will be living with the construction right outside my window for years. But, I am still for the developement. I would have been for the big payday if he wanted to buy my apartment as well. In my opinion its a no loss situation.
  • you would have taken the buyout, good for you.

why do you like this development project, may I ask?
    where do you live? newswalk?

Tell me how Guiliani turned the city around...please... I'd love to give him his credit. As a New Yorker for over 30 years it seems to me Guliani was in the right place at the right time and he has ridden a tradgedy all the way to the bank, he's an even bigger charlatan than Bush himself.

I cant believe you dont see how a booming (the bigget boom ever) economy brought so much tech money and tax (real estate) money into the citys coffers even Howard Stern could have done a good job. No one man runs the city, its not like what Guliani would have you believe.

Name one edgey decision that guliani made that people were skeptical about and turned out to be a really great idea..... can you? I can name a few for Clinton.

Guliani is face man , and you are a sucker for marketing and hype.

You exposed yourself as closed minded so need to go back and forth. You can same the same for Clinton, the tech boom was all hype over Y2K. That had nothing to do with Clinton Policy. Guiliani and Bratton quest to drive crime down is his legacy that put this city on the right path. And if you dont care to see it then your head is in a hole. Take a look at the statistics, crime trended downward, the economy and real estate and everything intertwined went up.

I am willing to sacrifice a view of the city and except the development. Why? Because I believe development is good for economic purposes. There will apartents for all incomes. There will be tempoary construction jobs for 10 years. There will be new jobs to maintain the grounds and buildings for decades. There will be commercial/office space and a hotal providing jobs. Do not knock the pay some of the jobs will pay. there are plenty of unqualified people that need remedial jobs that will available. There area will not have a huge hole in the ground. (the Atlantic rails themselves). Would I have liked to see smaller buildings. Sure, but economically it is not feasible with the cost to put a platform over the rails. Developing a park, or the three story homes across from the yards are not going to be economically feasible to substantiate the cost.
