Seamstress Tips?

Anyone know a good seamstress in the area? Gotta get my wedding dress fixed up...ironically, I went with white.

dry cleaners on 6th avenue and either 5th/6th St. I think it's called Randex or something like that. They do an EXCELLENT job (I've never taken a wedding dress, but often take in mens/ladies business clothes)

Because I live close to Randex I use them as well (they're on 5th Street)...but I used to use the dry cleaner on 7th Avenue and 8th Street...I thought they did a much better job.

The Eco Cleaners on 12th St. and 8th Ave. are also good. I'm very petite and have to have everything altered or taken in and they always do a very good job.

They're also honest about what they can't do and will tell you upfront if they don't think it's going to look good.

agnes tailor shop on PPW (use to be next to dub pies, now moved further south on PPW) did a complete redo of a vintage dress i wore to my brother's wedding for under $40. and the woman, helen, rocked

i hate to say it but the place on 6th ave and 5th st ruined two dresses of mine...

I've had great luck with Randex on 5th and 6th. They ruined one dress, but everything else has been truly great. I am short-legged, short-waisted, and wide-hipped - so EVERYTHING from dresses to pants to skirts has to be tailored to fit me. Mrs. Han is awesome. Last week I brought her a couple pairs of pants and she knew EXACTLY what I needed.

Thanks folks - I will see what theses places say about my Wedding Dress.

I was also thinking of Yao's on 7th Ave (I think is is close to 15th street) because she did a good job on a bridesmaids dress I took there and a suit my fiance took there but was hoping to find a Seamstress instead of just a cleaner who also does altercations.

Anyone know anything (good/bad) about Yao?
