Oh yeah...DUB makes a malted coffee (Milo and espresso). It's not on the menu but they'll make it if you ask.

jesus. that sounds awesome. going to have to walk down there soon. -
Another big fan of Southside - I think I prefer it to Cafe Regular because that Cafe Regular chick can be so surly. Southside also gets their pastries from that Colton Patisserie on 6th Ave/9th St- mmm, cheese biscuits!
Southside makes really tasty cappucinos. Definitely my favorite place south of 9th street. I prefer it even over Gorilla. -
if i could marry a coffee shop, it would be cafe regular. how much do you love your kids, in all honesty? i mean, there are plenty of people who want kids and if you're really a serious coffee-phile, you might consider giving them up so you can fit into the narrow, closet-like sanctuary that is cafe regular.
or you could park your stroller outside. many moms do that. or if you're a dad, you also could park your stroller outside, because dads do it too. (i don't want to start another "boy's blue hat" hullaballo by assuming you're a mom) -

There are hot guys there? Shit, I don't care if my boyfriend is reading this- I'm there!
If my boyfriend is reading this, he already knows how I feel about the guys there. If the guys from Southside are reading this, well, now they know too. Now I'm blushing over here....
I just broke up with my boyfriend, so I'll have to check it out ... I may even start drinking coffee 8) -
whatchuwant is right, we need a dating board

Love Café Regular, but as with 'potter, Fifth Avenue seems a bridge too far from up here by the Park.
Like Parco OK (I'm the guy feeding my daughter a pain chocolat at the counter), Nadires is just fine, but I often end up at Connecticut Muffin, which is also as stroller-friendly as any around. -

thanks for the consideration. i am, indeed, a dad.

Southside Coffee is great. Fair trade beans, a good brew, and they are usually playing cool music in there. it's not the comfiest of establishments, atmosphere-wise, but it is a decent place to hang out for a while. i have meetings there on occasion.

Has Beans-awful, dirty, bitter, sucks
Cafe Sutra-dumb, gross atmosphere, bitter, sucks, auto grinder
Cafe Regular-cute, coffee sucks, dirty over extracted espresso, sucks in Philly, sucks here.
Red Horse-library? Great machine, not put to use, friendly I guess, so much potential, not focussed
South Side-great coffee, up there with Gimmee, Grumpy, 9th Street. Fun guys and girls.
Naidre's-sucks
Dub-ok if you are desperate
winner-...South Side! -

Yeah - gotta agree with this, for the most part. South Side is my favorite in the hood now. And it's on 6th avenue and 19th (not 18th nor 20th, as have been mentioned.) They just added a couple comfy chairs and a loveseat so it's getting cozier.

If you come with stroller Red Horse is your best bet. It's bigger, and there are always families in there with strollers. I actually prefer the Red Horse espresso beans to South Side's - but the drip at South Side is freakin' awesome. And the guys are nice...and apparently cute. -
I always have trouble getting a seat at Red Horse.

i will be checking out southside when the babies wake up from their nap!
-
grab me a cappucino while you are there
-
verdict: southside gets a thumbs up. great espresso, nice barista, stroller fit. hate me for the park sloper that i am.
-
but did you find the baristas cute?
-
oh yes.
-
I stopped by Southside yesterday too and the most knowledgeable and cutest barista was working (of course, they're ALL knowledgeable and dreamy, but he always makes the best leaf pattern in my macchiato). Glad you enjoyed Southside, 8thandPrez.

there is one that is a former massage therapist. he has brown hair.

Ugh, I HATE it when people try to bring babies/children into coffee shops. A coffee shop is generally a place of peace and order where people read, relax, meet a friend, or get some work done in an environment conducive to such activities. Then you have assholes who bring in their kids who start running around, or if they're babies start crying or making other noise.
Makes me want to grab them out of their strollers and drop punt them out the door. -
Is it possible, CS, that you've had a little too much caffeine?
-
I thought coffee shops were places were people got coffee (or, in Amsterdam....)

It's possible to have peace, zen, drink coffee, and pet cute babies. My wife got to play with Maggie Gyllenhall's baby at Gorilla not that long ago. -
I hate babies but they're a fact of life. If I want peace and quiet, I stay home.
-
If you don't like babies then why in the world do you live in Park Slope? I mean, you've picked one of the worst locations imaginable for your little neurosis. May I suggest a move to Century Village, Florida?
-
White is white, red and green?
Baby getting eaten by an aligator.
What is white, red has trouble getting through doorways?
Baby with a spear through it.
What is worse than twenty dead babies hanging on a tree?
One dead baby hanging on twenty trees.
South Side rules! Give your babies espresso! Soy breast milk! -
I've got one that can top all of those
If any of you are whiny parents please dont read between the hyphens
-------------------------------------------------------------
What do you get after you stab a baby in the head with a screwdriver?
An erection

*sigh* Let me explain it again. I personally don't like babies but I understand their (and their parents) right to go where ever they want. The OP stated that s/he hated babies being in a coffee shop - a place s/he thinks should be a quiet place for reflection, soy milk and peaceful interludes with one's self. I simply stated that while I don't like babies, they are a fact of life. If I truly want peace and quiet, I will stay home. I remove myself from the situation rather then being an asshole and demanding that others accommodate me. But seriously, I think babies carry disease. -
Anastasia - my post was directed at smug, not you.
