I'm gonna keep my eyebrow arched til it actually opens and it's good. I want it to be good! Please be good!
-

B O R I N G

I can't wait. I've been going to Nicky's on atlantic, but it's not feasible, time wise, on a work week.
-
I don't know what a Vietnamese sandwich tastes like or looks like, never been inside a Vietnamese sandwich shop before. What is it about them that makes everyone gaga?
-
Yea....whats in a vietnamese sandwich? whats a vietnamese menu look like?
-
-
I don't know about you guys but I am jumping out of my fucking skin... I actually just bit off a little piece of my tongue and swallowed it I'm so hungry for some Vietnam sandwiches..
Asians do a lot of things REALLY well and the good ole sandwich is a shining example:
-
Me likey!
-
Mmmm, I can't wait. I love me some factory farmed chicken and freaking head cheese...
-
Sorry if I offended anyone... must the sherry talking again.
Seriously though, hope the place is good. -
Oh please be a Vietnamese Sandwich shop with decent prices...
-
Oh fucking SNAP that is good news! I hope they have a decent meatball with fish sauce.

The "decent prices" is what gives me pause. I'm not optimistic. -
My cholesterol shot up by just looking at the picture of that sandwitch!
-
"decent prices"! Come on, people! Why do you think all these places are going out of business? It isn't the freaking rent, it's because it costs a lot to run a small business. I hope they don't have reasonable prices, cause maybe they'll actually last.
If you want decent prices, go to Subway. -
Hmmm... actually, I'm pretty sure it's the rent. Last I checked that was the biggest "cost" of running a small business on the corner of 7th ave and 10th street.
-
Hmmmm how many $5 footlong bahn mi sandies do they have to sell in a month to cover $18k in rent?
-

That doesn't even make any sense. Subway is more expensive than either of the Vietnamese Sandwich places in Cobble Hill. I didn't say underpriced... just "decent." $6 would be nice.

Yes it costs a lot to run a business... and the second most expensive item (behind labor typically).... is rent. Why do you think Tea Lounge went out of business?
And finally, I can guarantee you that your suggestion for non-reasonable prices will result in one thing: they will not last. How many $19 sandwiches do you buy? -
When I lived in Paris we used to have hangover lunch of cheese on baguette with butter sandwich and dip it into French onion soup with a gigantic coffee on the side. I'm pretty sure it was all together about $19. (And cardiac arrest in the making but still.......)
-
Scarlett,
A sandwich, soup, and giant coffee in Paris is not a sandwich by American (or certainly any nationality's) standards...
Guess that was your point?
Nonetheless - You had me at "hangover".. then again at "cheese", and butter, onion, MMmmm!!, you just don't stop... Give us more, give us indigestion, liberty, and a stomach ache while we nap. -
All that sandwich shops in Sunset Park are $3.50. Thought that price just went hand-in-hand with Vietnamese Sandwiches.
Hope this new place has something vegetarian, though, since none of the Sunset Park places do. -
Price point under $9 would be good. Not as good as a $6 Chinatown sandwich but it's saving me a trip to Chinatown so I'll pay it.
-
Seems like a huge space for a sandwich shop...Vietnamese or otherwise.

I bet that place is still there where you had that amazing $19 lunch and has been for decades - imagine the reaction on this site to a $19 lunch of a buttered baguette/soup in park slope - we want cheap food at cheap prices and its killing our businesses and we want to blame it on the rents and landlords as a way to dissassociate ourselves. -
Woohoo!!!! Now if they only have Pho!

Sounds expensive to me! -
Mmmmmmmmmm so good. The foot long baguette half smothered in butter with thick slabs of gruyere was like 6, the soup like 7 and a gigantic cappuccino, like 6. Regular for Paris.
-
part of the problem had to be their offering "old tea". as part of the business plan for the viatnemese place i suggest they put "new" in the shop's name.
