Does anyone hear the DOO WOP music!?!?!?! — Brooklynian

Does anyone hear the DOO WOP music!?!?!?!

No, I'm serious! Stop laughing!

It's the same song for over an hour. Really fast, really LOUD freakin doo wop! WTF?

Are the cops trying to force someone out of their building with this shit?

Killing me.

  • you are likely hearing the bad music coming from a christian preacher RV, parked at Frankin and EP.

It was preaching mixed with country music and doo wop at 7:45. He may have decided country music was out of touch with the locals (he'd be right)
  • All I heard coming from that thing was gospel, but OK, it's loud
  • Oh my God, I thought I was in Bush country...
  • It was way louder than the Mitzvah tank ...and didn't move
  • it went reggae for a bit, too, which was kinda hot even if it was waaaaay too loud for being unannounced. But I'll take this over the 12th tribe of Issachar guys, though.

Interesting that you might think that given that Doo Wop was almost exclusively black and a good bit of it came from the streets of Brooklyn.
  • Doo Woo Doo Woop...
  • LOL!

I heard it toooooooooooooo. Trying to take a nap , I was laying there talking to myself like, "wtf? somebody got a block party going on or something?"

I choose the best days to try to take my nappy naps. #-o
First it was the air planes flying over in the early AM, then the marching bands , the cop-copter and now the reggae.

Whatever Mod, don't turn this into a race thing, ok? It was a joke and I was drinking. Sue me.

Are you drunk now? A race thing? Hardly. I'm just saying you live in the most interesting place in the US. You should know the history or at the very least not distort it. I think you inferred, from your statement that DooWop was "old" therefore Republican. You could of come up with any other rejoinder and I would of LOL, happy to give you the last word, but you throw out the "race thing", so typical of bitterly entrenched liberals with no answer to a mild criticism.

No, not drunk this morning- tired though, thanks for asking.

I'm not bitter, I'm not entrenched (well, unless living in CH for the past 10 years counts, so maybe I am), and I was a liberal back in college many many moons ago.
I did infer from my statement that doo wop was old, therefore Republican. You are astute and I commend your clever response. No one likes criticism though, no matter how mild, and as I didn't see it as constructive, nor apropos of the conversation specifically, I went for the first reaction I could muster having only ingested half a cup of coffee this morning.

    Like I said, sue me.

    Er, almost exclusively black?

Some Brooklyn boys would disagree with ya...

And check out "Avenue X," set on the streets on Brooklyn in 1963. It is about the tension between the black and italians, ultimately united by their love of da Doo Wop and search for the perfect sound.

    And always remember! Never forget!

  • the real question: do more people in bush country like Doo Woop than people in, say, Obama country...

This could support the infamous "Doo Woop association with Bush Country", or not.

...it could atleast impress me with your internet research prowess.
My goal is that everyone's goal be to impress me, but I think I'll fail.
  • What don't you understand about the words "almost exclusively"? It's like "virtual" man!
Whatchuwant, I'm sorry that sometimes I'm an asshole. I guess that makes me a "virtual" asshole.
No, I am not going to sue you, virtually or otherwise.

We've moved on. Your goal should now be to show whether a Doo wop association with "Bush country" is valid or not. ...impress me.

Man, if I were a chick and some wop tried to doo my bush, I'd be all, hey, man, get out of my bush country.

Man, if I were a chick and some wop tried to doo my bush, I'd be all, hey, man, get out of my bush country.

Would you be less likely to be like this if said man was not a wop?

I'm not entirely sure that I am completely comfortable with the direction of this conversation.

That having been said, there is _definitely_ something appealing about Mario the pool boy out in the cabana, papers or no.
