Dog - Midnight Needs Home!!!!! — Brooklynian

Dog - Midnight Needs Home!!!!!

The dog in the parking lot on Prospect between Nostrand and Rogers (nearer to Rogers) desperately needs a home. They are starting contruction of housing on the 2nd and the owners of midnights cannot take care of her. She is a beautiful 5-6 year old black lab mix, housebroken and a good protector. I have been taking my dogs to visit her, but they do not get along. (I have some knuckleheads!) plEASE if you can foster her or give her a home please call me at 212-945-8196

  • you might want to post this on the Pets board too
    :D
  • Do you have pictures? What's the dog's story? Is he a junkyard dog who has lived outside his whole life, or is he used to people and furniture and the like?
I have my hands really full at the moment, but those are things that cross my mind. Information about his temperament and what his situation is exactly might be helpful to people who would consider taking him in. Is he outside all the time? I'm trying to think of a lot with a dog in it...I can think of a few, but none at that location. Good luck.
  • Wait, is this James' dog Midnight in the lot on the corner of Prospect and Franklin? He's such a sweetie, he and my older dog Cheech always try to play through the fence. He has been outside his whole life but really seems like a sweet dog. I would stop on my way home from work and give him roast beef or turkey slices and he was so gentle taking them from my hand. Why can't James (I think that's the owner's name) take him? He's had Midnight since he was a puppy!
  • How is he with cats?
  • If someone is interested in her they shouldn't be worry about the fact that she has lived her whole life outside. Dogs adapt very quickly to any situation. What dog doesn't learn to love the couch! If any one is willing to foster her in the neighborhood while she finds a permanent home, one of my dogwalkers can walk her for free during the day.
  • Cats! How is he?
  • I don't know! ;) He's been outside his whole life, he's probably seen strays but never when I was around. If I see James I'll ask if he has any idea. And I'll keep my fingers crossed that he's okay with them, Midnight really is a sweetie.
  • Miss Minnie Midnight is not midnight on Prospect & Franklin.
She is on prospect off rogers. Southeast corner is a deli, 3 storefronts then parking lot with her chained inside. Across from all the new houses.
She has lived inside a house and is house trained and then the Libbie and Leo got too old to walk her upstairs and down. So she went out on the lot around the corner from her house.
cats? I dont know. She is a good little girl and is full of spunk. I left a message and am waiting to hear back.
  • How with cats? dont know. we could leash her and try and introduction. I did that with both my dogs you quickly know what the deal is. Sorry camera broken. But think of mr. Midnight only thinner and more girlie.
  • tsarina, thanks for clarifying, I was worried about Mr. Midnight! You said she looks like him, could they be from the same litter? Poor little girl, I hope she finds a home.
  • I have seen MIDNIGHT of Prospect off Rogers but I never got the impression it was a house dog at one time.
He always seemed (to me) to be bi-polar:
calm and seemingly friendly at times but would quickly go into frenzied barking and showing of teeth.

He didn't seem to like my dogs.

There may be hope for him but I would be careful
  • Subject: Midnight

One of my dogwalkers has been fostering Midnight, aka Ella, since last Wednesday and she is a great dog. However, we need to find her a permanent situation or another foster ASAP.

She is completely housebroken and is very happy and comfortable to be inside. She knows commands and will be a great addition to someone who is looking for a mature dog. She is OK with other dogs, but since she was never really socialized she would do better alone. We are trying to get pictures up as soon as possible.

If you foster or adopt her we will walk her for free if you are in the neighborhood (Prospect Heights, Crown Heights and even the North Slope).
    PM if you are interested.
  • Ella still needs a home urgently. I cannot believe that not a single person out there is looking to adopt a dog. She really is great!!! super mellow and loves everyone. AND we will walk her for free... please help us spread her info. She needs a home ASAP.
  • you might also post this on the pets board.
  • Unfortunately Ella/Minnie still needs a home. She is awesome. Good with kids, no separation anxiety, not destructive. AND free dog walking:) She is the perfect dog for someone that has wanted a dog for a while, but was afraid to commit. She is so easy...

I have tried to download her photo, but no luck. If you would like to meet her or see a picture please contact me.
  • Maybe I'm just being insensitive, but since nobody's posted on this topic for three weeks, can it be un-stickied?
  • Ella still needs a home. She is still at her foster home, but needs to find a permanent home. So please don't stick it...

Has she become any friendlier to cats? I am in love with her cute face but I have two kitties at home I have to think of also.
  • Who's got pictures??!!
  • Ella's foster mom doesnt have cats so I can't really tell how she is with cats. She is pretty mellow so if the cat is low key she should be OK. Let me knos if you want to meet her.

I have one low key cat but I have a really psycho cat that thinks he is a dog. Im afraid if I meet her I will really fall in love and she won't get along with my cats :(.
  • Where are those pics????
  • Oh, she's a cute face! I'm considering her. Trying to figure out if a tiny apartment + two decent sized dogs = BIG mistake or not...
  • Where the heck did you see her?!?!
  • Housebroken emailed me pics.
  • Ahh, I see. Visible only to the chosen few....
  • I'll post them...if I can figure out how. That's code for "explain to my dumb ass explicitly how to do it."
  • Oh- she IS adoowaboo.
  • Her paws look huge! I wanna smoosh her ears.
