A Neighborhood Comes Into Its Own — Brooklynian

A Neighborhood Comes Into Its Own

See the article in The New York Times Real Estate section, Sunday December 18, 2005. It's so nice to know that the neighborhood that I've lived in for more then 20 years is "coming into its own". Thaks so much to the New York Times for "discovering" our neighborhood. It's never been a secret that Prospect Heights has its pretty parts and its gritty parts; at least to those who lived here. Close to Manhattan by subway, near to the park, the museum and the Botanic Gardens, Prospect Heights has just been home for me...and a damn fine one at that

I don't lament the old days (I was greeted with the sounds of gunshots the first weekend after I moved in.) it's just that with houses going for well over a million dollars and with the plans for the basketball arena, I just wonder if the neighborhood that I love is gone for ever ? And is that a bad thing?
