whats happening with Circles restaurant?

Boo me off the board, but that would be an awesome Starbucks or Cosi location.

With the theater, the park, and the subway, and drawing from both Windsor Terrace and the South Slope... man oh man.

Let's just pray it doesn't get chopped up and turned into yet more cell phone stores.

An independent coffeehouse would be most warmly received by the bullyboy clan.

I don't happen to feel that stores with more than one location are intrinsically bad for a neighborhood. Depends which chain it is, in my opinion.

That said, I'd prefer a Gorilla Coffee or a Tea Lounge there. A place to meet before a movie, take out food for the park, grab a coffee before heading to work...

What does suck are empty storefronts and these cell phone stores that serve no purpose whatsoever. It's just tragic that they carved up the Western Union on the corner of PPW and now we've got a successful but too-small Dub Pies and another f*cking cell phone store!

Well I’d sure hate to see that... I still can’t believe that on 7th ave a Star Bucks coffee took over Little Things Toy Store. And it’s now been what, like 10 years since that happened? Brooklyn is just losing it’s character more and more everyday. I guess it’s inevitable it’s going to loose more. But that doesn’t mean I’m rooting for it to happen.



I wouldn't call it being taken over when the woman who owned Little Things and the building just couldn't say no any longer to the money Starbucks was willing to pay in rent for that spot and she happily took it and moved her stores to other locations.

i found bullyboy's musings about a tea lounge going-into the circles location to be interesting, since the pavilion tried to pull-off a tea longue-type cafe years ago when it first opened. it was a creative, ahead of the curve project and of course it failed miserably.

I don't know the details of what happened there. I just know Little Things was a truly unique toy store, there was really no other store like it... The Star bucks there now is just another 1 of 1000 Star Bucks across the city, and that one in Park slope is just exactly the same as all the others.

Every time I walk by the Starbucks on 7th Avenue it is packed. When I look into Starbucks' window, I never think "what a shame that there are so many empty tables," like I do when walking on 5th Avenue by all the empty restaurants filled with waiters trying to look busy polishing salt shakers at 7 PM on weeknights.

The Little Things toy store is across the street and on the next block from Starbucks.

Where Starbucks is now for many years was a large Little Things where only part of the store was toys-the rest was tshirts, fun things for the home, jewelry, gift items, etc..

I adore Cosi's signature salad, but then, I'm a yuppie.

Ah yes, Alfred Peet, the man that inspired Starbucks and sold them coffee when they first opened. There is a Peets coffee in the International Arivals Terminal at JFK and in the ING Direct Cafe

I didn't realize there was a Peets in NYC. I don't drink coffee, but am frequently in SanFran and visit Peets for tea regularly
