Sunday Garfield NO PARKING — Brooklynian

Sunday Garfield NO PARKING

Is anyone else impacted by the No Parking Sunday signs that went up Saturday on Garfield, bet PPW and 8th? Apparently the temple at the corner is doing something and cars are supposed to be moved by 9am this morning until 3pm this afternoon. Something to do with Succoth (sp?).
I'm really pissed about this. If you went away for the weekend thinking your car was legally parked, you'd come back to ... what? Being towed? A ticket?
Has anyone had experience with these things (not film companies but block parties, et al) where you ignore the signs?
As of now about 1/3 of the vehicles have been moved.

  • I assume it was the Chabad facility at the corner of PPW?

  • No, it's the Garfield Temple at the corner of 8th & Garfield. Someone says there's a secondary motive for the event, something about doing something about homelessness partnered with the Old First Church (Reformed) at Carroll St.
Isn't the Chabad House around 3rd St?
  • Yes. You're right.
  • wow... interesting how well the 3 responses above didn't respond AT ALL to the original poster's question. Truly artful.

(btw, i have wondered about this as well... luckily i've never been parked "inappropriately" basically because I've never been out of town on the wrong day (that I know of). I live off of Cortelyou and the Flatbush Frolic just happened... I was tempted to just leave my car where it was on the side street (luckily my paranoia got the best of me... they set up a police mobile response center where I was parked, probably no chance of my car surviving that one)
  • Can I kill the n00b for being snotty? WHERE IS MAMACITA!?
