Subject: what's that stink at the park?

anyone else noticing the terrible fishy/seaweed/wet-dog smell around the picnic house and near the 3rd st playground? any idea what's causing it?

  • yes! I took a walk around the park's ring road on saturday & was hit w/a wafting stench o' fish...wonder if they're using some kind of "green" fish-based fertilizer? (last year, Cadman Plaza Park smelled like a pigsty for weeks...maybe the city uses alternative "grey water"/fertilizers?) anybody out there know...? hoooooey, it was stinky.

really, I expected more from you. That wasn't even clever. Where the hell is Drunken Guest??
  • Are you talking about the same stank shit these poor people have been smelling?

Seems like ya'll are trapped in a mobile dutch oven in that area. Ick. :puker:
  • is this a second Ginko thread? ...the trees seem to be shedding their fruit at the moment.
  • it's definitely not a piss or vomit or semen stink - all of which are common tree smells around this time of year. this smells more like the sea port if the sewers backed up and flooded the fish stands. i've seen those large, yellow fruits at other locations in the park and they were never accompanied by the aforementioned stink. but hey, i can go back out this weekend and do some more nasal research to be certain.
  • I noticed it this morning. I was very proud of myself for being in the park at 6.30am. Very proud.
  • yeah, everyone is "sensing" this lovely new odor that is eminating from the chips they put on the pathways...we think it's the mulching taking place with the chips they cut up from the trees, mixed w/ the garbage, etc..
  • Not to mention the multitude of rats I saw in the playground yesterday.
  • Last Thursday evening, the area on the nw area of Longmeadow where there's an unofficial (ie, no light) crossing on the road smelled exactly of a fish market. My dog went nuts rolling in the grass there and brought the fish market scent home, earning himself a bath as soon as we got home.

It was as if someone emptied a few coolers of fish water right there. I've not noticed it sense, but I've also not gotten closer than 50 feet to the rolling incident area.
